I was in Manassas when the 611 first arrived on this excursion. Big, big crowds at the station. Videos like this don't do justice to the locomotive's steam horn (I can't really call it a "whistle"). It sounds like an ocean liner coming down the track, ten times more powerful than the horn of an Amtrak locomotive. There may be more powerful steam engines around the country, but no more beautiful ones than the 611, IMHO.

Not anymore, restoration started last year and as of May 9 this year, she has moved under her own power. :)
