I went for a drive by myself a few nights ago here in LA. I was bumping this banger with the windows down like I have for over 25 years. (it's the only way to listen to it) While stopped at a red light I faintly hear some guy yelling. Seems like he's yelling at me from 2 cars back. Dude on a Harley pulls up next to me at the next light and yells "Fuck yeah, Back to the Hotel!" It was a simple gesture showing mutual respect and love for a timeless classic. I remember the first time i heard this. Was either 2000 or 2001. I asked my brother if he had any rap cd’s i could get from him. He reaches in and pulls out a burnt cd he had. And he told me there wasn’t a lot of swearing because he knew our mother wasn’t going to let me listen to it if there was. I go upstairs, slap it in my JVC boombox, and started listening to what are now some of the greatest rap of the 90’s. Full of swear words and all. I’m 30 now, still have that great memory. Props to my big brother for being fucking awesome. I wore that damn cd out listening to it.
