N481 Streefkerk - Oud-Alblas - Papendrecht (NL)

The N481 is a 4.2 kilometer short provincial road in the province of South Holland in the central part of the Netherlands. The N481 forms a connecting road between the N214 (Dordrecht - Leerdam) and the N480 (Groot-Ammers - Nieuw-Lekkerland). The N481 is located in a typical Dutch open polder landscape with wide views. The soft subsoil creates an undulating road surface.
At the Alblas river, the N481 is very narrow and winding, atypical for a provincial road. In July 2024, the Province of South Holland announced plans to replace the bridge over the Alblas with a lower and wider version, widen the road where possible and replace the intersection with a roundabout.
After the intersection, we pass the 'De Peilmolen' mill. Shortly afterwards, we reach the N214, the end point of the N481 and this trip.

De N481 is een 4,2 kilometer korte provinciale weg in de provincie Zuid-Holland in het centrale deel van Nederland. De N481 vormt een verbindingsweg tussen de N214 (Dordrecht - Leerdam) en de N480 (Groot-Ammers - Nieuw-Lekkerland). De N481 ligt in een typisch Nederlands open polderlandschap met wijdse vergezichten. De slappe ondergrond zorgt voor een golvend wegdek.
Ter hoogte van het riviertje Alblas is de N481 zeer smal en bochtig, a-typisch voor een provinciale weg. De Provincie Zuid-Holland heeft in juli 2024 plannen bekend gemaakt waarbij de brug over de Alblas wordt vervangen door een lagere en bredere versie, de weg waar mogelijk wordt verbreed en het kruispunt wordt vervangen door een rotonde.
Na het kruispunt passeren we molen 'De Peilmolen'. Kort daarna bereiken we de N214, het eindpunt van de N481 en deze rit.
