N54 SWAP BEGINS (335i Wagon Build Pt. 4)

Today, we're pulling out the N54 out of my E90 335i as we begin our N54 swapped wagon build! This motor has some leaks/concerns, so we're taking a close look to see what service we can do while the motor is out of the car!

Wow, great progress Chris. Please get rid of the plastic intake tube from the back turbo. Buy a second hand silicone one. Now it's an easy job to do. Second, clean the intake valves and ports and third, the rear main seal as you mentioned. Good luck and have a great weekend. Dutch regards, Nico.

definitely think you should go with a subtle exhaust upgrade, but keep the E91 exhaust style. Gives you a little bit of noise but nothing crazy obnoxious.

I'm currently in the process of this swap and I need help with wiring. I'm not getting power to the dme to start the car. Everything has been swapped from donor car besides the interior harness and fuse panel. Everything lights up in the car but no start.

My recommendation would be to scan the modules and chase down the codes, one by one! You may have communication errors due to coding, wiring issues due to the harnesses being different, or just left something unplugged! That's my experience anyway lol

What modules did you have to swap over ?

I swapped all of them except the FRM I believe, since that controls tailgate functions and panoramic roof.

@@TheBimmerBarn I swapped cas , frm, dme module car turns but no start. I keep getting codes like transmitter dme I check the fuses at the dme box and I’m not getting any power going to the little box of fuses. If there’s a possibility you could help me out here

@@user-uo9kp2bz3w Check with a local bmw shop, maybe they can help! Sounds like the wiring hasn't been finished yet or you had a donor that's a different year than your chassis.

Best bet it to buy a whole 335i parts car, so you can get all the different parts to go with it! Probably the cheapest option too
