I haven't been to Petaluma since the day you posted this video, oddly enough. Thanks for posting!

Tell me more about your AA1. I have 500 plus hours in AA5A and B, but none in the AA1. Your avionics are awesome! Did you do all the upgrades? Wow!

Jose, Thanks for your comments. The AA1 and the AA5 series are similar in many respects. The AA1 is relatively short coupled- which makes for sporty handling and, in good weather, is a blast to fly. In IMC, I'd want an autopilot! There's plenty of bad press about the AA1. What's true is, any airplane can bite you. With some training, and flown with respect, the AA1 is a safe, fun, economical airplane. There's nothing "tricky" about it. This AA1 has the 150 HP STC (Blackman) and the aux fuel STC (a total of about 32 gals,) plus a number of other nice-to-have STC'd modifications. I bought the airplane well equipped, but did add a bit to the avionics- including the EFIS. I also did the paint and some refurb to make it a fairly "new" airplane. It cruises at about 150 mph, and is IFR capable with Garmin 430W, Narco MK12D, Dynon EFIS, Shadin altitude alerter, fuel totalizer, PS Engineering audio panel, heated pitot, etc. No autopilot was available, and that had a big influence on my decision to sell. Someone saw the videos and decided they wanted it, so the plane is, sadly, sold. I now have a Glasair...

@@peterjaypriestAn offer to good to refuse or time for a change? I am curious ... what would an AA1 like yours sell for? You can reply to my email privately.

man I really like the latch on your canopy. Where did you get it, and is it TSO? Very nice panel too. Thanks!
@peterjaypriest3 жыл бұрын
Hey DocJeffry- the latch is the original style for the 1969 - 1970 Yankees. Later years had a different setup. The latches are still being made- they are a generic latch- not aviation specific, but this is what was installed in the airplanes at the factory. The video shows the newly installed latch. I still have the original, but it looks pretty tired. If you need that style latch, let me know and I'll get you a link where I bought mine. Thanks for your comments!

@@peterjaypriest Yes, would appreciate the information on your latch. A new post linked to your video. Latch looks easy to use. Thank you.

@@MrJazTube Hey JazTube- I believe the latch is made by DE-STA-CO- possibly the 331 model. Take a look at McMaster Carr, as I think that's where I bought mine. Good luck!

Almost stalled the airplane on the turn to final Right @ stall speed Pilot should thank God he is still alive
@peterjaypriest3 жыл бұрын
The "speedometer" generated by the Garmin camera is ground speed, not airspeed, in case that's what you're referencing. Not close to a stall.

The Yankee has the Lycoming 0-320 (150HP) stc. But I've sold that airplane, and now have a Thorp T18 (180HP) and a Glasair (200 HP) All are fun airplanes!
