N64 Longplay: Mario Kart 64

There will be another part to this for Extra Cup. I decided I wanted to do at least one normal Longplay, so I did it on Mario Kart 64, I love Racing games, and as far as walkthroughs/lets plays/longplays go, the Racing genre is severely under represented.

Ahh..I wasn't born in the generation of gamers that had the SNES and N64s, but my older cousin has an N64, and I LOVE this game. Heck, some of the tracks on this game are even better than tracks on the newer Mario Kart games, though every Mario Kart track is good in its own way. Great video, I enjoyed skimming through it (lol I didn't have time to watch the whole thing xD)

I played my 64 for the first time in years... I've been moving constantly the past few years, and this is the first time I've had all my equipment unpacked at the same time (my TV, game, controls, and 64 itself). I have to be honest and say, I suck. I used to be awesome at this game. I hardly ever lost, but tonight I never ranked higher than second place. #Disgraced I've only been playing this game for ten years, which compared to most of the mario fans, isn't much at all. I'd like to say I'm a huge fan, but I'm not in terms of merchandice. I've never played any of the wii games. Yes, I own the first two original super mario lands (super mario land 1 and 2), and of course the original mario kart, and I own MarioKart8 (Holy crap, you have no idea how big of a shock it was to go from 1996 animation to 2011 animation. I started crying, it was incredible! And the FLYING!? Oh my goodness.), but that's it. As I said before, I have never played the wii games like mario party, super mario world, or any of that. Which I'm disappointed, because I'm sure with some practice I could kick butt and have fun doing it. But, whatever. Some day when I can actually afford a wii, as well as some games, I shall have a match with my brother. Teehee. This video really made my day though. Soooooo many memories.

Its called "rubber band A.I.", and its in every racing game where you have opponent racers, nothing new. Some games are better or worse about it, this one is somewhere in-between, which is good. Its also because I am great at driving and racing games too lol.

This is my favorite game of all time! I know it's technically not the most savvy, but one on one, it can be a very competitive game with a lot of strategy and subtlety, and my friend David and I used to play for about 90 minutes 3-4 days a week, rain or shine, for YEARS. Sometimes we even rushed home during our work lunch to play. Hell, we played in the morning on the day of his wedding! lol. We ate a lot of pizza and smoked a lot ofweed. We were MASTERS of this simple little game! Good times!

Was awesome back in 1997, and I think it aged well. Kind of fun despite having no track editor. But this was 17 years ago. Quite frankly it just doesn't cut it today just having 16 tracks, especially when not having a track editor.

Hell a game called Tokyo Xtreme Racer, the first one, only has two technically! An Inner and Outer highway route! So not all racing games have a vast number of tracks... just saying.

Emulator, of course haha. I've never had any way to record a console directly like this. Project64, the one I preferred anyway so I'm pretty sure its the one I used for this. I did still have an actual N64, the last one I ever did too when I made this but, well no I used the computer and an XBOX 360 controller. DXTORY to record it, man I haven't used that program in a long long time. Better programs come along and you move on, how it goes. Do wish I recorded it in a higher resolution, over time on here it would have retained more fidelity given how every once in a great while videos on YT will be "re-rendered", its an odd thing most don't realize without going into it but, yes its a thing even I didn't know until one day. I don't give a shit, its just content ID. Nintendo made the game, its their right, its no skin off my ass nor bothers me. The video is and can still be watched, all is fine. It REALLY stopped mattering when Google/KZbin years ago now announced "all videos will have ads run on them period", which they did so... that was going to happen with this one too anyway haha. What is funny to me is for as long as this is and the track and its matching song happen more than once, its only the last time Rainbow Road is in this that's when it was detected... not only that its the Japan division of Nintendo its attributed to claiming it, not NOA which, most would expect.

How to see if you are 1st in yoshi's valley, look at the race track on the bottom right corner and whoever is flashing like rainbow means they are first
