I recommend build a antenna only for GMRS. Right now the GMRS have a massive increasing of new people.

Is the dual band 1/4 wave 5/8 wave and the single band which wave is it? I have bought 4 of these antennas and don't know the specs.

All j-match style antennas have the following specs. This includes j-poles and slim jims. The bottom 1/4 wave of conductor whether it be ladder wire twin lead or pipe. Is a piece of balanced transmission line that converts the 50 ohm impedance of your cable to a high impedance so that we can feed the radiator portion at the end rather than the middle. The radiator is a 1/2 wave vertical. Unless the antenna is collinear (stacked radiators) this applies to all of them. Hope this helps. 73, Joe N9TAX
