LIVING IN MY OWN WORLD by Beauty Sikhapa from Zisukhanyo Senior Secondary School in Philippi district of Cape Town. A student film from the 2014 SAEP Arts Outreach Programme.
The way Nab'Ubomi works: High School Learners write and pitch their story ideas as short film screenplays. The most promising script/s are selection to go into production. Writers of the selected screenplays get to direct their own films with a team of learners from their school fill the crew roles of producer, camera, lighting, sound, boom swinging, art department, script and continuity, and clapper board operator. The student crews receive introductory training and support from a mentor film crew as they make their film. All actors are from the school, all scenes are created on the school premises, props are sourced by the learners, scenes plotted and rehearsed by the learners, and the film is shot in a single day at the school. The School films are generally a mix of English, Xhosa and Afrikaans.
