I could tell from early on he was going to be this shows version of Jesse. Knowing how Jesse made it out with sacrificing so much, I had a feeling Nacho wasn't going to have the same fate. It makes Mike's relationship with Jesse even better because he already went through it with Nacho and it gives more depth into Mike's disdane of Walt. If you watch the shows and movie in chronological order after season 6 is over, it makes Jesse's escape to freedom more fulfilling because we see someone trying to get out and fail. Almost everyone in "the game" has died including good people like Nacho, Werner, and Gale. Jesse is the only one to make it out and we see what all it takes to gain that freedom.

Yes, because what he said in the end was truthful. The truth is he did hate the Cartel, the Salamancas, Hector, and Lalo. He hated all of them. When Gus' guy called him and told him to open the gate tonight, Nacho had no remorse for Lalo's impending death. He tried to kill Tuco, Hector...this time Gus was going to kill Lalo for him, he was probably relieved, like great, screw that guy. He has no love for the Cartel. The only reason he's still here is (as he said) "once you're IN, you're in." Sure, he didn't want the assassins to harm the innocent old folks living there who "weren't in the game," but he did it: he DID betray the Salamancas and the Cartel. He was the traitor who conspired to have Lalo assasinated, he did swap out Hector's pills to try to kill him, it's all true. The details about Gus at that moment didn't matter. He got to tell HIS truth, completely unchained from the fears that had ruled his life for years. He stood his ground against some of the scariest men on the continent and told them exactly what he thought about them. He also secured his own father's safety at the same time. In a way, he won.

Yeah, it is also great visual storytelling. Would another character go to such lengths to hide? Would Jesse? Idk I feel like Jesse would be crying and freaking out, then just snap, turn around and be like "fine, you win, just kill me already you psychos!" Like most characters have a breaking point where they would rather die then stoop to such levels. Nacho on the other hand without hesitation dives into a tanker of crude oil, completely submerging his entire body under muck, just for the possibility of surviving one more day. That's his character in a nutshell. He will go to any length just to survive, even when he knows it's futile. He knows, but he keeps digging himself deeper and deeper into the muck.

I believe Nacho embodies that person trying to find his own way to greatness in the wrong path, remember when he met Don Eladio(the cartel's big boss, the one who is in charge of Gus, Bolsa and the Salamancas) that he told that what he wanted is to be in charge of his own fate, not having anyone looking over his shoulder and Eladio told him he was in the wrong business, this resumes his entire trajectory which started with his father, a honest man who always wanted to give a stable life for him giving his Tailor Shop when he retires, but that wasn't enough for Nacho, he wanted to be more on his own, and made the terrible decision of finding his success in the drug cartel working for the Salamancas. He couldn't know that they were volatile, crazy and deranged sociopaths who would kill anyone with their "Sangre por Sangre" philosophy, that's why he always sought to find another ways to his wealth(the Kettlemans, stealing Pryce's baseball cards and such), until eventually losing his soul becoming a monster like them and be a slave of Gus to avoid losing his most precious thing he try to protect all this time: his pure and honest father. When we see Nacho's House for the first time, we can see that he got what he initially wanted, a big and beautiful house, hots chicks always available to satisfy his needs, and a lot of money to spend, but he couldn't be more alone, soulless, and sad with all of this success. Still trying to figure out how to find his own way out for the safety of himself and his father. When he met his fate by the end of third episode of the final season, he truly parted out of his world in his own terms, finally founding control in the first time before dying: cursing the Salamancas, Gus and the Cartel while ensuring that his father would be safe. I think that the difference between him and Jesse, is that he had everything to follow a honest path with a prosper life, Jesse didn't have this, suffering negligence from his parents because of his problematic behavior, losing the only person who cared for him(his aunt) and the paternals figures in his life forces him made several horrible things. Nacho was driven and lost by his own Ambition, while Jesse had not really way out of the life of suffering for the sins of others.
@themalmadius2 жыл бұрын
That is a great way to look at his journey and I loved how you elaborated on that comparison to Jesse that I touched on. In terms of his loneliness, I always think back to the one scene where Mike confronts Nacho at his dad‘s place of business, and we see this drug dealer, right hand man to the heir to the cartel and manager of his own side business, gladly helping out his father in his honest place of business. I think to myself that this is truly what he wanted in life, at least if it was given the same level of prestige that he was fighting for in the drug world
@larryharris80442 жыл бұрын
The irony is that his loyalty to his father made him willingly do the unspeakable acts that dug his grave deeper within the cartel. However his father's stubborn refusal to put his pride aside and escape with his son makes him the real reason Nacho is dead. Going to the cops would just lead to him in prison where they'd kill him or dead like tortugas and they would have killed his father anyway outta retribution. It's just seems that of all the characters that do dirty deeds in the name of business or for justice or family, papa varga is the most ruthless for choosing his status as a good man over the unquestionable love of his son.

Breaking bad basically reminds everyone, once in your game there isnt a easy out
@jamesbuckwas6575 Жыл бұрын
Remember that Nacho is an adult, who has made very bad choices for himself and as a consequence, his family. His father knows this, he doesn't want to have his son face anything other than justice, and he's not going to go to safety with him just because he's his son. He loves him yes, but at least in his view, Nacho got himself in his predicament, at least at the start. I'm not sure that it's pride motivating Manuel Varga to stay in Albuquerque, considering the history of more moral behavior from him regarding his treatment of Hector Salamanca and sticking with his morals. Not to mention possible naivety regarding the desire of the drug cartels for revenge, at least on a level that made it worth overturning his still successful life and social relationships for, along with possible police protection as a witness. TLDR, Manuel Varga not wanting to overthrow his life and escape from the brutal drug cartels for a situation Nacho caused (which both of them acknowledge) doesn't make him brutal or prideful, it makes him more moral. It makes him willing to have his son take the heat from the cops, rather than excuse his fuck-ups (which AGAIN, were not entirely Nacho's fault during the show, just initially caused by him).
@marvelsandals4228 Жыл бұрын
His father was a lot like Chuck. He saw everything in black and white, no room for gray. He doesn't lie, he doesn't deal with crime or criminals, and he doesn't compromise. He would rather die a good man than compromise his moral code to survive. Sometimes it feels like he had no idea how close he was to being killed, but I wonder about that. I think he must have had some idea. Hector went to his shop and offered to pay him to be the front for his business and he refused. Hector was visibly outraged by his disrespect. From that day forward he probably suspected that "these guys may come for me some day." He just didn't care. He didn't want to run from criminals. He told Nacho if you want to run, then run, but I won't run away. If that means Nacho survives and he doesn't, then he can accept that.

It’s the other way around, the Salamanca’s are cold blooded and ruthless whereas pretty much all of Gus’s worst actions are taken out of revenge (uncompromising fury) and the need to have control over everything and never feel what he felt when Max died ever again, which comes off as being cold blooded and ruthless when it’s more accurate to say Gus is radically detached.
@marvelsandals4228 Жыл бұрын
You know that's a good point! When it comes to revenge, Gus is anything but cold. He is red hot. He would burn down an empire just to get his revenge on Hector. Nacho's death is one of the strongest&most touching scenes I've watched,the actor KILLED IT,too💥 BTW,although there's decency to both of them, Jesse&Varga are very different. Nacho's a dark version of Robin Hood,steeling from the guilty&helping the poor, like himself. He's an intelligent, ambitious, hardworking guy,trying to undermine the powerful from within, but also improve his own position. With Jesse I have an impression that, had he not gotten addicted,he'd never have entered the game. He started cooking bcs he was an addict, not for greed& he never really became a player. He stayed a suburban,semi privileged kid, who was an antithesis of ambition.

After watching this video, I would say that this is the moral lesson we can take away from Nacho's story, and not just nachos story, but frankly Mike's, Walt's, and Jesse's stories as well, and that is: "Doing the right things does not necessarily lead to the right outcome, as it is possible to do everything right and still lose, but doing the wrong thing will NEVER lead to a right outcome." It goes back to that old parable: "Whatever a man sows, he will also reap." And I know that many people will immediately dismiss that, because it's based on judeo-christian principle, and many people are not religious these days, but it's still a principle that holds true today, just as much as it did when it was originally written. It is a principle that has literally stood the test of time, being proven to be true over and over again.

This all makes me wonder exactly how much, if any, Salamanca blood has ever been spilled to justify their belief they deserve to lead the cartel. Hector often uses that line "Salamanca blood!". But there's a TON of Salamanca's, at least before they're killed by Gus and Hank. So it seems like when Hector uses that line, he's actually saying something that isn't true. Sure, maybe henchmen for the Salamanca's have bled, but not necessarily the Salamanca's themselves. And whenever the Salamanca's actually bleed, it seems to always be from something they caused. Like how Tuco bleeds from that explosion, but it's because he robbed Walter. So the Salamanca's aren't bleeding for the cartel, they're bleeding from all the stupid stuff they get themselves into, by being hot heads. That paints a completely different picture of the Salamanca's. All just spoiled brats who just have people bleed and die for them, while they remained pretty much untouched, and transplanting other peoples sacrifices onto themselves, like stolen valor.

9:25 nacho didn’t beat up crazy 8 there cuz he was angry it’s beacuse hector wanted him to. You portray nacho like there was a point where he snaps and becomes evil, that never happens.
@themalmadius2 жыл бұрын
No I do agree with you, at that point he was unable to do anything but Hector’s will. I think the message got lost in editing, which is my bad. The point I was trying to make was not at this moment, but what came after Hector got the ibuprofen pills. When all of a sudden Nacho was put in charge of the whole show, he started to act like a much more sinister druglord. With the Salamancas presumably out of the picture, it seemed like he did not have a necessity to leave the business at that point, even if Gus is still looming over his head. It didn’t seem like he made any real attempts or even desire to escape at that point because all of the biggest threats were so distant. Remember, this was before Lalo came back into the picture. He never got to the level of the Salamancas themselves, but began to exhibit much more sinister tactics to keep everyone in line

🤔… in hindsight wouldn’t it have been less headaches to burn down his fathers shop? No shop no Salemancos using it to wash there money, no Gus black mailing him for switching the pills, his father collects the insurance money and can rebuild by then he figures out another location for them to wash cash 🤷🏾♂️
@sehalos2 жыл бұрын
Gus blackmailing him would happen either way. The reason Gus did it because of Lalo
@garcel12512 жыл бұрын
@@sehalos you just proved my point… If he burned down the shop…. Then he wouldn’t have needed to switch Hectors pills… which means Gus couldn’t have used it to blackmail him… if Hector didn’t have a stroke no Lao coming North of the border…. It all was a domino affect #BurnDownShop
@sehalos2 жыл бұрын
@@garcel1251 1. There are plenty of ways Gus could deal with Lalo instead of setting him up with Nacho. The reason Nacho is a dead man is because Gus set up the plan to kill Lalo in Mexico through Nacho 2. Nobody (including Nacho) know that Lalo Salamanca exist until he made an appearance and there is no guarantee that Lalo wouldn't come to US if Hector not in wheelchair. Literally Lalo could come to US to help Hector even if he is healthy especially with Tuco behind bars

The only reason Nacho didn't just pack up his $$ and disappear was because his Dad refused to leave and Nacho knew if he left his father would be killed

If Gus didn’t save hector, nacho’s plan would have worked. You think Gus just didn’t want someone else to take his prize?
@themalmadius2 жыл бұрын
Yeah absolutely, especially after his whole monologue about him patiently spending all this time and effort torturing a coati as a kid (S4E6 Piñata). He wanted to be the one to destroy Hectors world to the very end, which would end up being the case
