These videos are great for people just starting(and longtime stencil artists). When I started I'm not sure KZbin was even a thing yet. A lot of artists are protective of their methods but I don't see the point. Share the knowledge. Keep up the great work.

I like your tips, it shows that you have a lot of practice. For those interested in discovering an ancient stencil tradition, just do a search in an online bookstore for JAPANESE STENCILS. They have done fabric dyeing with stenciled designs for centuries and have a complete mastery of all the specific difficulties of stencil design. There are inexpensive, royalty-free books of such stencils showing repeating patterns of natural themes, all beautiful. One particularity of Japanese stencils is how they use bridges as a decorative feature. Another is that hey also reinforce the empty spaces with a wide-mesh silk gauze which allows them to cut very thin, narrow details that seem to hang in the void but are in fact resting on the gauze.

I'm a beginner stenciler. Great tips, especially the cutting out part of small outlines. I was going to buy a stencil burner pen but I think I've changed my mind. You make it all look so easy. Thanks for the video.

Hey I'm new here to the channel and the hobby and on the x-acto blades you only really cut with the tip so as it dulls out needle nose pliers can be used to snap off the tip and you have a fesh blade. Anyways works for me. Great video.

Extremely new to this so bare with me. What are the pro's and con's with HP spray paints and LP? If you have something that you want to white wash or fade in to the background can you use a can of white from a far distance and mist it or is there a better way? Thanks Andre

Hey dude, thank you for spreading all the knowledge! You've helped me out alot! A word of knowledge that I learned that you might not know us that you can buy off brand #11 blades that work just as good as X-acto but are MUCH cheaper. I buy packs of 100 for like $15 at Carter Sexton which is just an art store. I'm sure they are other places too,. Hope I helped!

@exdeefacemusic10 жыл бұрын
It's more to protect the surface underneath, you don't want knife marks in your kitchen table or your desk or whatever. Just something to make sure you get a nice flat cut without ruining anything else.
