I´m really surprised that English or American people are interested in older German films!Even in Germany you would hardly find someone who likes watching this films.This is really for insiders and I never thought that those films are so fascinating for you! That´s really great!

***** Oh my God,"Nazi period",bullshit! This film "Nachts auf den Strassen" was produced 1955 and war was over since 10 years!
@Taka_Takata7 жыл бұрын
Obviously, I wasn't referring to this movie, but to what he wrote: "prewar to cold war years". I may have wrongly interpreted "to cold war" as meaning "to the beginning of the cold war". If he meant "prewar, war, and cold war", then I apologize. Prewar and war years are still the Nazi period, though.
@fraeuleinelfe7 жыл бұрын
***** Yes it is true what you are saying because george pierce wrote this in his comment.But I can not imagine that he meant the Nazi - films which were produced by the UFA.Perhaps he explained it a bit badly! But I must tell you that some of this UFA-productions weren´t so bad at all.My Granny told me the town where she lived with my mother was bombed nearly every night and so she went to the cinema watching a film with Zarah Leander ,a Swedish actress with a wonderful voice,(perhaps you know her) and so her mood was better and they were singing the songs Mrs.Leander had performed.I must say(without being a Nazi) some of these films are very interesting and the production was expensive,you can see it because of the equipement!

For a gorgeous young Hildegard Knef to be portrayed as crushing on the 61 year old, paunchy Albers is simply a testimony to his enormous popularity at the time. Today, it seems ridiculous. This is indeed an interesting historical look at the time and place, as well as at gender roles and attitudes. Thanks for this and the other fascinating uploads on this channel.

I really enjoyed this film as I'm a big fan of Marius Goring, even though he plays a black marketeer and not a particularly nice character. I love the scene at the bar where he plays the piano and sings 'Schwarzer Kaffee'. He plays the piano in several of his films, most notably in 'So Little Time'. He was pretty talented - could speak German and French fluently, play the piano and sing, and was even a good fencer. He fences in several episodes of 'The Scarlet Pimpernel' and it's not a stuntman.

Its very encouraging to see that other people are as nuts about Marius Goring as I am. Most people in the US don't know who he is, possibly because it's not easy to watch a lot of his work here. I just got through watching the Moonraker again and I always root for him..I know he's going to lose but I can't help it.
@Nellynog14 жыл бұрын
@@pacmanattack2531 Yes, I love Marius in 'The Moonraker' or anything! Unlike Sylvia Syms, I would have stayed with him rather than hang around waiting for Dawlish. He just took off to France with Charles Stuart and she had no idea when she would see him again! I have a large collection of Marius's films and TV on DVD and run a Marius Goring website. www.mariusgoring.com/

@@Nellynog1 Just looked at the website. Very nice! He's not the easiest person to read about unless you want to settle for wikipedia's version. I'm very happy there is a site dedicated just to him. If you sell or trade any of his work I am definitely interested. I may have almost everything still available but maybe you have access to more than I do.
@Nellynog14 жыл бұрын
@@pacmanattack2531 Actually, my sister has updated his Wikipedia page quite a lot over the last few months as there were some inaccuracies and a real lack of information. She's as big an admirer of Marius as I am. Glad you enjoyed our website!

Note the story similarity to The Blue Angel. Heinrich starts out with the most tenuous of claims to respectability. How can someone fall that far from such a low perch? The incongruous happy ending is downright Brechtian.

Germany needs to sign a Peace Traety with the USA First,they only signed a total surrender . Without the Marshal aid and care packages from my mother to Germany you would never be as well off as today. So be gratefull also you got your Cold War Defence at a very cheap rate,all other Nato and Allied nations had to pay a lot out to protect you.For example,Canada used to pay over DM400,000,000 every year with inflation added just to rent an airfield and Barracks from Germany inNATO Germany for the NATO commitment of Canada.Remember Germany sits upon the shoulders of past NATO CITIZENS. Marshal Plan with England helped get your industries active,VW was set up by the UK and it's Army for you ! Be Thankfull and stop grauching !Be Blessed. PS There is a lot more that USA,CANADA,UK,FRANCE.ITALY,BRITISH COMMENWEALTH,and many other nations did to help lift Germany from the ASHES of the WW2. Do not waste time writting rubbish as you have here and get active,vote and help develop Germany to a Better Nation and eventually take part in moulding a better WORLD !
