Part of a pair of NAD gear that was brought in for service by a viewer. The complaint was a dead channel but I was surprised to find out the real cause of the upset.

Patience saved this nice amp; many pieces of equipment have met early deaths from careless drinkers getting to close the the goods! Thanks for having the patience to clean and save this piece and for your time posting this video.

The NAD 2100 is essentially a NAD 7100 with the tuner/preamp section removed. The NAD 1600 tuner/preamp is a NAD 7100 with the amp section removed. It was a pretty smart modular design that let NAD essentially make 3+ products sharing chassis and PCB combinations.

I think a lot of manufacturers did that to maximize the return on investment. Yes, NAD was one of those companies

It feels a bit odd to see the right half empty, but otherwise a nice amplifier. Thank You for showing it to us and having the patience to clean it!

It's because this is the same chassis as what they also used for the Receiver line of this Monitor series. The 7600PE is a total beast, and includes a PreAmp and a fantastic digital tuner, and it's totally packed inside, even though it's actually a larger chassis than this one. This is the baby of the range.

This one should go on the scope for bursts, dynamic headroom is above 6 db! I use there 3100 as main amp, and it has gruesome reserves for a 50-60 wpcc amp. I believe the rails are supported by 20 000 uf of lower voltage and 20 000 uf @ 80 V, thats is employed by the PE circuit just like in the legendary NAD 2200 Powertracker. I do not own a speaker capable of handling this amp in mono, reliable but looks like it's falling apart as you look at it. Classic NAD craft, and a step above the 2140 /3140 quality wise. I like your choice pf gear, thanks for the uploads. Patrik, Sweden

Great video. I have a NAD receiver 7400. The outpout from the right speaker is not coming out right. I have to play with the the volume knob to get to a normal level, and the bass and treble are not reaching their peak. Would you be able to take a look at it for me? Where are you located?

Does anyone know the original PRICE for this NAD 2100 back in 88'-89' when it 1st came out??🥴🆘💰😵💫 I've seen prices ALL OVER from $400 to as high as $800!?😮💨😩WOW,it doesn't seem like it's that expensive....I have one an its in excellent condition &was only $60!! Whoever owned it before, Barely touched it!😯🙏 I've let it sit for a few years &only recently hooked it up for center channel use* It really sounds monstrous with my Techniques EQ making it waaaaay better sounding!Very solid amp in my opinion.Nice repair video and great skill you have Sir!👍🏆

2100 is a nice amp but relays are constantly going bad on them. Lots of off-brand caps too. I went crazy trying to repair one a couple years ago, was getting weird voltage on the lower-voltage output rail. Turned out to be a bad ceramic cap of all things. The commutating diodes that switch between the low and high output rails (Power Envelope) can be problematic as well.

No, but I have it on good authority that it may be Captain Morgan's Spiced Rum
