Well that was much more interesting than I expected, I was beginning to suspect other issues but you successfully tracked down the problem with your persistence ! Also thanks for the reminder, it is time I watched Pulp Fiction again ! 😁👍

About those caps near the voltage regulators... I would try to solder them underneath the board so the heat from them will not influence anymore that it there is enough room. Nice vid Trevor

I like Tarantino movies and Death Proof is my favorite. I live in Austin and it blew my Mind when one of the locations was on Ave N where I used to deliver mail!

Failing servo section smt caps are also often responsible for sacd players' premature demise. They will no longer recognize the DSD layer on a hybrid disc, or even the ToC in extreme cases and display no disc like here. I do replace them like for like though with Nichicon smt low esr range available on Mouser. The rattling clamp was often resolved with a self adhesive damping pad on Sony SCD range players.

I didn't belive you can fix DVD by changing the capacitors (thinking it woul be drive assembly problem) but you did!👍Remote control volume and and panel volume (rotary encoder) seem to work independently...don't they? Thank You!

I have a "high end" Master Series NAD CD player that has "no disc" symptoms. Likely going to need the same surgery. 😉😁

First comment ever on youtube so here we go ;:) But I got my self a NAD L54 that looks exactly the same as the one you have there from a dead relative. My problem is it says "RESET" in the display and wont start up or react to any of the buttons. Any tips?

A lot of components in that box, even a cast aluminum heat sync, $600 back in 2005. This did not look very pleasurable Trevor, too many little Caps. crammed together.
