I love their friendship, but I think it was ok Roger wasn't there. Weird as it sounds, I think Roger attending would have taken the focus off Rafa a little bit. It was Rafa's night, and Team Spains night. But the hype would have been about Roger attending, rather than Rafa's ending.

My favourite moment ? The epic battle at my city , Melbourne , AO when Roger won , it was so close I was exhausted , but didn't really know who I wanted to win .,.. Roger holding trophy ' I would have been happy to have lost tonight , ( as he looked at Rafa) as to be in the final with Rafa after a long time off injured , well that was enough for me ' ( And he meant it ) Don't quote me word for word but it was beautiful .... I cried when Roger retired , and Rafa too the AO It won't be the same , although I heard a rumour , Andy Murray who loves my city , is coaching 10 x AO champion , Novak Djokovic I have witnessed the best era of tennis ! How cool is that ! Both boys , you gave us some great shots , great matches and I thank you for that ! ❤❤ the greatest rivalry but friendship ? Magic !

Nonsense. Think abt it, if Roger had come, all the focus would have been on him. Meanwhile, it was Nadal's night. Roger knew it. So i think he did great not showing up on the court. But i believe Nadal doesn't have any problem with that bcs i'm sure Roger informed him abt his plans and did gave reasons. So for me, well done Roger to not only think abt oneself but put others 1st
