I don't remember this Gaudio match at all. Interesting time. At this moment, Gaudio is the reigning king of clay, probably nervous to defend the biggest title of his career. Rafa was unproven but rapidly ascending and obviously about to begin the greatest claycourt career ever. But he must have just seemed like some punk kid to Gaston. Both their fortunes changed so fast! Even with that pressure, Gaudio's being a bit of a crybaby.

You can even see him and Berdych cooled off a few years later, and their handshakes became warmer around 2012/2013. Fognini was a weird one in that him and Rafa always seemed to get along off-court, would even grab dinner and hang out, but on-court they always looked like they hated each other. Somewhat cold handshakes, very tense matches (Fognini actually did a great job matching up with Rafa).
