To me, Nadal is the best. No one could've touch him during those earlier years. It's only when his started slowing down, from 2014 onwards. Yes, Djokovic dominated in 2011. But from 2006-2013 (a period of 8 seasons), he only took 1 from Nadal. For me, Nadal and Federer will always rank before Djokovic. And if it wasn't for Nadal's long battles with injuries, I reckon he would be far ahead of his top two rivals, in terms of slams. And maybe even in terms of weeks at #1 too.
@NOOR-ul8qy4 жыл бұрын
@@TheTmat007 M not underestimating Nadal he is another legend. When I started watching tennis Nadal looks impossible to beat, even on hard surface too. What these big 3 had given tennis replacement in near future seems impossible.
@TheTmat0074 жыл бұрын
@bogdan Petrovic So, "Nadal peaked a lot earlier than Djokovic" serves as an excuse for his rival, but the fact that his career has been plagued by injuries, isn't a factor? Smh. Sure, Nadal's style of play is more laborious than that of Federer and Djokovic. And it puts him at higher risk for developing injuries. But injuries occur irrespective of one's style of play and physique. I mean, Del Potro's style isn't exactly like Nadal's. Yet, because of injuries, he has spent even more time away from the game than Nadal has. And by the way, Djokovic is no Federer. His style isn't that much different from Nadal's. He moves around on the court quite a lot too. Just not as much as Nadal does. In fact, on many occasions during matches, I've seen Djokovic gasp for air. And so, some players/athletes are just more fortunate (or unfortunate) than others, with regards to injuries. Djokovic and Federer have been more fortunate than Nadal and Del Potro, in that regard. And I like how you cherry-picked the years that you claim Nadal and Djokovic peaked, in other to promote a point. Not saying you are wrong. But the fact of the matter is, Djokovic was in his prime when his lost to Nadal h2h in 2012 (much like Nadal was in 2011). Also, even before 2008, Nadal had been dominating all his top rivals. And since 2005, he consistently won slams before reaching his peak, in 2008. Those are feats Djokovic did not accomplish. He only won 1 slam prior to 2011.

The way how djokovic reacts to a loss and how Nadal reacts to a loss is so different . Djokovic has better quality .
@TheTmat0074 жыл бұрын
@@deepakmohan3591 Your first statement is correct. The second isn't true at all. Nadal is more gracious than Djokovic, in both victory and defeat. After Nadal won the 2009 AO final, it was his kind and gracious words that gave a tearful Federer the courage to return to the podium in order to finish his speech. Nadal handles himself with decorum...more so than Djokovic. Djokovic would sometimes smash his tennis racket when he is being outplayed by his opponent. Now, I understand that players do so out of frustration. But it is still not good conduct. And at times Djokovic would also direct his anger (in form of a roar) at a crowd who opposes him. That usually happens after he execute great plays. And after Djokovic lost his 2018 FO quarter-final match to Marco Cecchinato, he acted bitter and irate during his press conference. Nadal's conduct (with regards to victory and defeat) is more favorable than Djokovic's, in my opinion. During matches, I just wish he would put away his time-consuming rituals.

Even as a diehard Fed fan, I love Novak's on court demeanor more than Fed and Rafa. Every time his opponent hits a great shot Nole is always the first one to say bravo or give a tennis clap for them. And the hand shake after the match, Novak always, no matter win or lose, will greet his opponent with a smile and give them a hug. Look at this video for example. He lost the first match but was still all smiles and gives Rafa a big hug. Then look at Miami... He goes in smiling the same after the win and Rafa just gives him a tiny nice match and barely looks at him. Fed also usually has a disdained look on his face whenever he loses to Novak. Good observation, Novak is what he is on the court. We see him greeting opponents, happy and angry, smashing rackets, being frustrated, being happy everything you see from him is true honest and passion. Nadal and Federer on the other hand are much more reserved and I respect that also, people would say they are more calm, but we all know they just kept all those emotions inside of them pretty much. Unfortunately this way of showing emotions like Novak did is not the best way to present himself to a tennis crowd and this is sad.

To be fair, having a smile and being friendly after a loss or a game of that intensity isn't really normal. Doing it after winning I would say is actually a bit disingenuous - you've just beaten a guy and now you want to be his buddy. It's a bit like having a laugh and a joke after your friend has just lost his job and you were the one that took it. You're still rivals at the end of the day and even between Rafa and Fed who look like they got along off the court, they never did that to each other. More of a "condolences" moment than "let's grab a beer after the game!". Hopefully was genuine though, looked like he was enjoying himself more after losing than winning!

Rafa is just the most amazing tennis player...even when he does not win...it is amazing that no one after him made a debut like he did...and i guess there was no debutant like Rafa before 2005... no one talks of that ... no one makes a big deal about that... and if you turn the pages of those years...Djokovic was around...right from 2005...but he never did anything like Rafa... never could disrupt the placid world of tennis like Rafa...

Federer should learn a thing or two from Djokovic’s demeanour when he loses. Djokovic shows humility while Federer behaves like a pompous king!

RAFA has a vision i guess, he said to novak you're going to be one of the greatest player in the world in 2007 and now he's indeed, he even said to novak that he will win us OPEN in 2010 and next year he really won.

The commentator was saying how Novak was so respectful when he lost against Nadal. And when Nadal lost first time he gave that "soft" handshake how the commentator said. Nadal up to today doesnt know how to accept defeat :)

Djokovic's gracious attitude in defeat is so underrated...i think those years of being the 3rd wheel behind fedal really made him a good loser and problem solver
@shikhargovil95793 жыл бұрын
and actually that turned people against djokovic. he was always seen as a 3rd wheel who will give fight to fedal, occasionally win against them but will never reach their level and it's true that djokovic was not at their level till 2010 but since then he just cranked up his level and kind of replaced them which frustrated their fans.

Djokovic's improvement since 2007 apparently was really really huge! Novak's crosscourt forehand at that time would almost always land short to Nadal's backhand, now it's a solid deep angled shot esp. on the run. As well as the "timing" & the power behind Novak's inside-out forehand to Nadal's forehand is so much better now. While that forehand-down-the-line becomes more lethal after years. As well as the "disguise" on the forehand shot becomes better, if he will go inside-out Or down the line, which nowadays Nadal keeps on guessing. What I haven't seen much back then was Novak's BHDTL I mean it now becomes a winning shot most of the time. Looking back I could just say what an improvement! Go Nole more grand slam titles to come!!

Nadal didn't even want to shake hands with Novak after the loss let alone hugging. That's the difference of class. Novak was always a gentleman. He hugged Nadal after loosing in the final because he knew he will beat him next him they meet.

Why was Djokovic held a party in the corona virus spreading? Why has he broken numerous rackets so far? I don’t think Djokovic is a gentleman. His class is superficial

The speed from Nadal at 22:07 was amazing. He was so fast he literally didn’t even try to anticipate the overhead smashes because he knew he could chase them down. Also the point at 13:44 was genius

The defence of young nadal was certenly the beast of the hisory of tennis ! 😏
@adithyanaren5192 жыл бұрын
Oh my word. at 13:44 Novak was Hammering the Ball from corner to corner. All those forehand’s would have been winners against any other player. But young Rafa was something else. A very rare breed. Both these players at their teenage produced other worldly level of tennis. The so called next gen aren’t able to beat them even now

Aside from the content in this video, in my opinion, the defense Nadal made in that last game of Miami Masters 2007 was THE most outrageous defense in the history of tennis. Got to every ball. Smashes, volleys; everything.

He was known as the undisputed greatest defender back then. Now Djokovic got to his level too.
@javierjesusbalades21554 жыл бұрын
@@truthseekertitan3986 both are the best deffenders ever......i pick Rafa cause his deffense is too back behind the baseline so it is very difficult to put the ball at the other side of the net when u defend that far back, Nadal is pure fisical streght......Djokovic is more based on elasticity and how good he reads the opponents plays.
@dewman74774 жыл бұрын
@@truthseekertitan3986 nadal has the quicker feet in tennis history (only Monfils can beat him). Djokovic had better flexibility and slide on hard courts. Their defense is different in that regard

@Oliver McCall The title says "beginning of the rivalry." The rivalry began a year earlier at Roland Garros. It's a bit silly to separate the ATP matches from the Grand Slam matches as they both count in the H2H and in fact, the GS matches are more important and offer more ATP ranking points than ATP tournaments do.
@Aman-nk5uq3 жыл бұрын
