But what happens when you’re in a situation where words don’t cut it? When all other options failed and the child still doesn’t listen, doesn’t show respect, or doesn’t stop behaving in a aggressive, repulsive and at times physically negative behaviours like hitting their sibling? You can’t expect a parent to sit down for 30 minutes holding their hands and feet, having the scream and shout at them and expect them to keep to this whole, “use words” excuse. I don’t like spanking. But as a last resort, no other options, and used as more of a shock than to actually induce pain, I find it acceptable. I was spanked and it didn’t turn me into some mentally depressed psychopath. I’m a family working man who respect the law and the people around me.
