This actually looks really good. Mufasa’s story is full of potential for a great movie. I get what you are saying with CGI vs traditional animation. It does force film makers to produce something more serious. In this case though, it provides a wonderful opportunity to showcase sub Saharan African nature and culture through the story of a character we all know and love, but don’t actually know much about.

I don't understand how Pumba and Timone are in this? They weren't alive. Unless they can live very long lives. And wasn't the first time they met a lion was Simba as a cub?

I can’t remember the actual words the the opening African song in lion king but I DO know the lyrics to the song rafiki the baboon sings! Asante sana squashed we we nugu we we nampana! (a quick check on google tells me I only got one word wrong - it’s mimi hapana - so I’m quite impressed with my memory) it means thank you squashed banana, you’re a baboon, and I’m not 😅

I'm not sure why I couldn't relate to the live action version of this Vs the original. The lion king to me is the pinnacle of Disney. It's when everything came together at the right time to make a bit of magic. I know the general story is essentially Bambi with lions 🤣. But it was much more refined and just was perfection to me. It also probably was the first film that made me realise that life really isn't straightforward and bad things really do happen. Honestly it probably terrified little 8 year old me. I enjoyed the musical also it must be said. Not sure about this one either I must say. But I'll give it a whirl I guess. I did notice that it introduces "blue ivy carter". Nepotism is alive and well 😂😂

I like the idea of Mufasa’s story. But I’m with you on the ‘live action CGI’ stuff. Not a fan when it’s made to look too life like. Drawn animation uses imagination. I do love Lin-Manuel tho 🥳 so the music will be awesome.

Want real lions?? Don’t get it… watch natgeo. At the live action people complained that they had no expressions, they made it look as real as possible. Now they do have expressions, and of course we can notice all the cgi ‘cause animals don’t have this kind of expressions, an guess what? People are also complaining…

Real animals don't emote or behave like humans do. Why the hell would they do a movie with this kind of humanised story in live action? It is not a documentary about animals... What is wrong with good animation?!
