Ive been through this I was at a slepover with 6 girls 1 boy (my crush Diego) he was so kind not weird at all. I was on my first period at the sleep over the girls were all popular anna,cassandra,isandraa,sari,sariya,corri. Isandraa was my "best friend" when i went to the toilet my pad fell in and i flushed it i fought with it to pull it out i failed 😢 i was scared i came out bcz issandra was about to pee herself she freaked when she saw blood clogged toilet i was shaky but denied it was me she suspected me and pinned me down so did anna,cassandra,sari while corri and sariya pulled my pants down (i had long fluffy red ones) she hit me bcs i clogged her toilet and punched me Diego helped me out while covering his face to not see down there he pulled me out and we ran twoards the door corri slammed shut and hit diego and almost knocked him out i cried so i punched them i broke her door and diego was all hurt up we ran out i was all beat up the dragged me on the road (it was 2 am ) diego pushed her so hard and we ran he called issandras mom (we were gonna have a 3 day sleepover all of our parents were on vacations) we had her number since it was issandras house she picked us up and issandra and the rest were in ginormus trouble her mom took her to the cops welp years past me and diego have a happy life were engaged and i have a newborn baby boy named thiago ❤❤❤❤. (She did it bcs she hated me and was jelous of how i liked diego)

I remember when me and my friends were younger (like in the 6th grade) we would open random pockets of each others backpacks when the other wasn’t looking and put random plastic utensils in there (it was a joke that we all got along with). But once they opened the pocket of my backpack that had pads in there, after not even 5 seconds they completely shut the pocket, didn’t mention in the moment or ever again. It made me feel way more comfortable around them since other girls in the school would yell it out loud to the whole lunch room if they saw it.

That's just how I feel but I dint know, I don't think that's the scene I needed, that's the type of situation I lived everyday. What i needed was media that normalized periods, made period information accessible, and not so scary for people with periods like me, even with the rest of the episode giving more context, I feel like what would stick to 9 year old me, having my period before anyone else was this scene. It would be very scary and discouraging! (Im using me, cause I didn't want to invalidating people that found comfort within this scene but yeah, for me my younger self that would be awful)

PEN15 reminds me of mid90s. its a show highlighting the straight up cruelty of pre-teens & teens (in whatever era this show is set in...its been a while since ive seen it, ik its not set in present day.) this scene is awful, but the way the bullies sympathize with Anna rather than Maya who they literally sexually harassed/assaulted by trying to yank down her pants & expose her, it shows the raw meanness of adolescents. call it hormones, call it a lack of maturity, what it really winds down to is adolescents "inability" to empathize. middle school & high school are hell because of little girls like those bullies. great job, PEN15, keeping it raw & real.

I was a very traumatized kid and struggled a lot with my health and my body and other kids either aren’t taught or don’t have the extra bandwidth to be kind, even to their friends.

Mine wasn’t exactly traumatizing as much as the other girl was just being kind of a bitch (what to expect from an 11 yo but It was still annoying) I went to her house once when I was in my period but she hadn’t ever gotten hers yet, I was still new to everything so I didn’t want anything about it to come up during the sleepover. Well she pretty much brought it up like every opportunity. We were eating on her bed, I kept dropping nerds and I was like “oh haha look what I did” because there were just a bunch of green nerds and only green ones on the bed. She immediately freaked and asked if I had gotten blood on her bed. Later in the night I felt very sick (probably cause I ate like half a pound of nerds for dinner) and ended up barfing on the trundle bed. I didn’t have time to get to the bathroom and she literally looked at me like I had murdered her cat. She was also my bestie but really didn’t act like it sometimes. Luckily her mom was super sweet about everything

This literally reminds me of the old days. I had my period with 9, before the rest, and so a lot of changes happened to my body. It didn't help that bullying was an issue I faced regularly. Literally a similar scenario happened at a moment where I was with "friends" and they made fun of me for the whole incident. I didn't clog anything though so they simply just found a pad in the trash. Not sure why they went through the trash... Nowadays I learned to educate my future children on it and to not feel ashamed about it. And I would definitely get mad at the girl who tried to pull the other girl's pants down. I knew a girl just like that in my elementary school made her “friends” life hell. Makenna I think that’s how you spell it. She would bully her friends all the time have no clue why they stayed friends with her. if anyone here is around the age of these girls (middle school?) and insecure/anxious about periods, trust me, it gets better. girls get more mature as we all eventually understand what you’re going through and how bad it can get. in middle school, nobody talked periods (it was “gross” like in this short). but when i was in high school, i could be sitting in a bathroom stall and if i asked the girl next to me for a pad/tampon and if she had one she’d probably be happy to deliver. friends speak freely among each other about periods and period health too. it’s honestly so freeing to leave that weirdly judgmental, insecure tweenage environment and be around people who were actually a bit mature

Oh I have one hell of a story for you on how I got my period (I was 11 btw) So I was in my 2nd B and I had been having discharged for about a few days but I didn’t know what it meant so as I’m putting my stuff down I have a sense that’s something isn’t right then it feel weird down there so immediately rush to the bathroom I pull my pants down and see blood on my underwear I knew what it was so I grabbed my phone as fast as I could and called my mom she asked my what was going on and I told her “MOM I THINK J JUST GOT MY PERIOD” and I’m balling at this point because I’m like no no no no no this can’t be happening then I hear my Spanish teacher just outside the girls bathroom so I start screaming her name (remember I’m screaming) And so she come sun and gets the nurse for me then the 7th grade nurse teaches me how to put a pad on them on the phone my mom said “do you want aunt Lauren to come and get you” I said yes so I get picked up and my brother was really confused Then later that very day my mom came home and gave me a bag of cookies then she said that I was so loud that her coworkers could hear me so they gave me cookies AND I WASNT EVEN ON SPEAKER (Thank you Mrs.Koester)

Ive had a few people that would try to look in my shirt and pull down my pants to see wether i had puberty (I have some kind of disorder os smt that i grow really slow so my hands look like a baby's hand just bigger and i have a baby face and im really short for my age) so this is sorta relatable. Remember sweet girlies of all ages. If ANYBODY shames you for bleeding or not wearing a bra at a time, drop them if their your friend. Especially if they cant say sorry. this is representation for me because something similar to this happened to me at a girls slumber party. we played strip spin the bottle and even though i was having fun, i didn’t want to take my underwear off. but i had to because “it was the rules.” humiliating to have friends that manipulated your options because if you didn’t, you weren’t cool enough for them. and to have them plead that you do it because “we’re not gonna judge you” was even worse. because as soon as i did it just felt like there eyes were hyper focussed in. and i was like a circus performer being watched by the audience around me. as much as i only occasionally reminisce about it and only ever speak of the positives, its all just to mask how traumatizing it truly was to be exposed like that. especially to a group of friends that only used me in the end. we never spoke of it again, but it stays festering in the back of my mind. always.
