Nāgārjuna (c.150 - c. 250 CE) was an Indian Mahāyāna Buddhist thinker, scholar-saint and philosopher. He is widely considered one of the most important Buddhist philosophers. He is also considered one of the greatest thinkers in the history of Asian philosophy. Nāgārjuna is widely considered to be the founder of the madhyamaka (centrism, middle-way) school of Buddhist philosophy and a defender of the Mahāyāna movement.
Text entitled "Mahamudra Vision" was translated by Keith Dowman

Great Buddhist ruins were found on the banks of the river Krishna in Andhra Pradesh state in India. There was a University that Nagarjuna had established just 400 years after Siddhartha Gautama Buddha’s passing. There were great centres of learning of Buddhist thought and culture especially at the two places in southern India, Nagarjuna Hill (a dam was built there) and in Amaravati, also on the banks of the river Krishna. There were some ancient Buddhist relics and stone carvings salvaged when the sites were discovered in the 1950s during the dam excavations but inundated when the dam was built in the 1960s. You can see these in the museum at Amaravati. There is also a very large stupa still standing there adjacent to the museum.
