Thanks for sharing Mt.Kitadake again😊.I have a question.Do buses run every day Sir? Because I have plan to go there before climbing season end.
@JohnHikerDolar5 ай бұрын
Yes, I believe the bus services run from June to November. After that time frame should be the off season

Hi - discovering this video that will be really helpful to organize a hiking vacation in Japan. Quick question (as I am very used to hike in South Korea but booking for a hut is a challenge as they do not have reservation site or phone line in English): is it possible to book a hut spot with a website in English accepting international credit card ? Thanks !
@JohnHikerDolar5 ай бұрын
Hi!! Most of the bigger huts have online reservations. The page might be in Japanese but can be translated to English. The thing with credit cards is not all huts accept credits online so I recommend bringing cash with you. So in conclusion, huts in remote areas maybe difficult to book online but popular places such as this have good online websites for online bookings.

The online reservation system had Katanokoya as fully booked. This was incorrect info. Call them. We booked two spaces the same week we went (sports day long weekend) Also, I witness them taking tent bookings at the site.

@@SeanBenward Hi! Thank you for correcting. I believe Some people or tours cancel their bookings for some reason. But getting a space at the hut when calling isn’t a 100% guarantee especially in the peak season. Besides not all hikers from other countries can speak Japanese and most hut managers cannot speak English.

The hut-stay price is quite cheaper comparing to the other huts, by the way thank you for sharing you experience for the viewer I hope I go to Kitadake someday ☺️

Yeah! it is compared to the ones in Kita Alps. You're welcome. Please do visit! Kitadake is a great hike and that's for sure.

I've done Fuji san multiple times and I have to say each time it got worse. Mostly the commercialism, 500 yen for small bottle of water. In any case, it is an iconic mountain, so I understand the need to do it once. The trail mostly consists of volcanic pumice with not much of a view in comparison to other peaks. Fiji san's elegance is best witnessed from afar. On the mountain itself, basically blah. The hut that we stayed on one of the 8th levels served a bento box all in plastic. Horrible. This last weekend, sports day, we summited Kitadake and Ainodake. This video did a good job, although I think you under estimated the difficulty of Futamata trail. I my opinion the trail back from Katanokoya for beginners might be the better trail to ascend Kitadake. Again, John Hiker Dolar is far beyond more knowledgeable than I. Certainly descending Futamata trail (again in my opinion) very difficult, make sure you are rested. If you are a mountaineer short of time, Kitadake and Ainodake if you are in shape offer all the amazing experiences one might expect for great hike. Different terrains, challenges and absolutely the best views in general, and especially of Fuji. I thought the Katanokoya was a great place to stay. Awesome dinner! As far as crowds, I cant complain, yeah, there are a lot of people, but I was one of those people. People are pretty respectful of each other, and there for the same reason as me. Thanks JHD for a great video.

@@SeanBenward Hi! Yeah you’re welcome! When did you climb? Kitadake? I agree sad truth about Mount Fuji but it is an iconic Mountain because of its beauty from a far. Not when you’re in the mountain. I just want to highlight your comment about Futamata. Because it’s true. 🤣 Going up and going down from and towards Futamata is quite difficult for beginners. I’m wondering, which trail did you take?
