I've had horrible nail biting habits for most of my life, and no matter how hard I tried to stop it I never seemed to be able to I am proud to announce I have gone a year without biting my nails! :D They are the healthiest they have ever been and I'm very happy for it I pretty much used lots of different things to help me stop, like using nail filers anytime I had ragged edges, putting on spicy nail polish (this did nothing for me but it might work for someone else!) Colored nail polish so I couldn't really see my nails/bandaids (these helped the most because Everytime I bite my nails I felt something in the way and reminded myself to stop)

Try putting a cheap nail polish over your nails cause once you scrap it off and bite your nails it will most likely taste really bad since it's cheap nail polish:)

I'm 23 now and I've been biting my fingers for as long as i can remember so believe me when I say distracting yourself from biting your nails may not be the best way to solve this because at the end of the day you're not solving the underlying problem. Allow yourself to bite your nails, but as you do, observe what your are doing and thinking when it happens. It WILL be very hard in the beginning and it WILL take a some time and you WILL slip up, but that should be expected and as long as stay aware when it happens, you may come to new realizations on how to handle your problem (any problem really)! This is the best advice that works for me, hope it works for you!

Another factor is your surrounding. Many people who bite nails (like me) grew up with familymembers who also bite nails. So when i was younger, i thought it was normal, and it is now in 'my' system and i am not aware that i am doing it, so it is not that we do bite nails for our joy. (I am Dutch, so my English is not the best) 😂

To everyone reading this.. the only thing that will help is your willpower ... I had anxiety and was into nail biting pretty much all my life (25 years now). One day i just decided to stop.. its pretty hard but one thing that helped was, i used to apply nail paint everyday then remove it 😂 silly i know , but then whatever helps. Two and a half month and my nails are pretty decent looking ..🥺

I’m a 17 year old guy and I’ve bit my nails for most of my life and went cold turkey June of this year and that worked for me. I also found that running my teeth under them was a good a alternative to biting them and have since stopped that for the most part. I believe that there is a process to stop biting them but it’s well worth it.

Jade Smith it’s something I tried doing that after I stopped for the most part you just need to really dedicate yourself to stop I became really embarrassed by my nails but looking at them now is what really keeps me from doing it again I know that you can’t just stop but trust me it took time but eventually it became easier to not bite. Just my experience though do what works best for you

So basically my friend is a nails bitter ("addict"). She'll bite her nails nonstop and once we was on the car with this one uncle , and she is currently biting her nails, so then he ask "did you eat your dinner? Are you hungry" Lol u should try that with anyone you know who is addicted to biting nails. Ohhh and just some other info, i dont thing doing manicure oranything like that really work for long term becuz my friend she just ended up peeling it or bite it something like that but it might not apply to you though :)

I used to bite my nails a lot and my cousin made me get rid of that habit and I even grew long nails but since Dec 2017 i got my habit of nail biting back and it’s so annoying. When ever I’m in class and can’t solve questions I’ll bite my nails . Whenever I’m nervous,scared , lonely I’ll bite my nails . Even if I get like fancy nail arts and beautiful nails I just bite my nails with them because my logic is that’s I’m not gonna swallow the nail like so I won’t digest any glitter and nail polish. Any ideas or suggestion on how I should get rid of this habit

Tae with Kookies Get the messenger app and do meditation it helps with unhealthy habits I used to be a nail biting addict and now my nails are as long as my profile picture it took a week or a few days but they will start to grow if it worked for me it might work for some of you and this type of meditation does not require any religion

I've been a nail biter my whole life. And just recently these past months I've stopped and here's why. My friend tried to stop but failed. I did it to prove that she can do it too. And anytime I wanted to stop I kept thinking about my friend and didn't. I have now been nail biting free for 3 months and I LOVE my nails so much now. And I've also given my friend the motivation to stop as well! I say the best way is to work for something. Either set a goal for a month or two and if you reach that goal without biting your nails then you can treat yourself. Or do it for someone (like I did) and prove that what seems to be impossible isn't! :)

I am an extreme nail biter and recently I got an infection in my finger. All of the skin on my finger came off. Soon it spread to my face and people made fun of me because I had these big blisters on my face. It is healed now, and I am trying to stop biting my nails.
