If you really need exact measurements, you probably shouldn't be building it, it's not safe for you.

Yep ive made those but be careful. If it shoots wrong the nail can go sideways and go back hit you or side hit others. I learned to make a tube to make sure it goes forward. Even then it could spin because the head is not the same size as the rest of the nail. In the end i made a pointed piece of metal that is the same size all over. It worked the best. I added springs and air pressure for maximum power. I even had them explode while testing it, so i used metal not wood after that. What you make is good for nerf ball and stuff like that.

There's gotta be a way to make those flechettes more aerodynamic. I'm thinking you could put shrink tube on the ends and use it to try to make fins or something like that. You could also saw a groove into the ends and glue gun some hard plastic triangle inside. In general, I'd eschew nail bits in favor of something lighter. It's never really going to fly straight for long with those dimensions and weight distribution. Rolled up and glued together alu can sides with tiny steel tips would be almost as durable, yet a lot lighter and nose heavy(crossbow/slingshot bolts are usually like that). All you need is to make sheets from the cans and then roll 'em up real tight. The nails are decent tips, but not ideal for the whole body of the bolt. Because of aerodynamics and whatnot, a solid, heavy, finless bolt will either veer off course or start rotating, which makes penetration an absolute crapshoot. Does a number on velocity, though. I mean if you only want to pop some balloons...that's still an overkill. Ball bearings do that just fine. If you want a serious flechette gun, however, your biggest hurdle is the low quality ammo you are using. If it's for hunting...you are way off course and you need to reevaluate your priorities. This thing wouldn't hit half a squirrel from 5 paces. If it's just for shits and giggles and youtube views, good job. Not easy to get 2.4m views. All in all, 2/10 Too dangerous for airsoft, not nearly enough to provide the user with any tangible results, whether it be hunting, target practice or self defense. At the range where it's effective, we already have a tool and it's called a "humane horse killer"(it's a spring loaded nail in a tube you use to euthanize horses) the joke being that you'd have to use it at point blank range to be really considered "deadly"

@@jamesaeasterwood I was giving constructive criticism on how to increase its killing power, in case that's what he's gunning for. Why can't it just be what it is, you ask? Because he custom made ammo for it, sharpening the tips as much as he can. You just don't need that unless at least part of your reasoning is that this is the best tool of self defense you can access. I didn't "order him" to do it, just gave him some pointers on how he could maximize effectiveness without altering the fundamentals of the weapon itself. Maybe you live in a country where self defense is legal and people just build toy guns for shits and giggles. Where I live, a thing like this might be seriously considered as part of your "last stand arsenal" and as such, I feel obligated to share what little I know of DIY weaponry. Around these parts, if you pull one of these out, you are already a dead man. Might as well just make the other guy rue the day as well, amirite? BBs are more aerodynamic, so unless you were trying to increase penetrative potential, you wouldn't try to replace them with steel tips. Bearings pop balloons just fine. The implication being that we aren't just in the "balloon popping business" when we talk about this slingshot gun, and in that case, I think I gave some pretty solid pointers, at least vis a vis ammo usage. I don't know why you gotta be a dick about it. I mean...wouldn't you want this guy to be able to fire aerodynamically sound flechettes at his wrongdoers thereby maximizing the potential for organ damage? And don't come with the "but what if criminals", cause that's bullhonkey. Criminals already have real guns. More often than not, they also have uniforms. Blue uniforms. Nobody but poor nobodies will ever see the merit in homemade self defense. There was this rich kid at my elementary school. Used a sniper rifle to blow out the brains of his ex girlfriend, her new boyfriend and then his own as well. 100% legal ownership, papers, hunting license... Rich psychos like that are the reason why people like us build crappy little nail shooters using rubber bands looted from the bras of the neighbor woman. In the vast majority of countries, the only people who can afford to defend themselves are the ultra rich and those with criminal connections. For the rest of us, law abiding schmucks, "nail-crossbow-slingshots" are the only possible recourse against the rich and the evil. In any case, even if it's a "cool toy", it could be cooler. Who's to say you can't have fun with something that can *demolish the shit* out of a bucket of ballistic gel or something? I'd say that'd be even more fun. Then again, I was raised by someone who used to stuff impact powder into keyholes, so maybe I'm a bit biased.

Great work. Jorg Sprave would like this for sure. What I'd LOVE to know is...WHAT EXACTLY IS THAT GLUE I SEE EVERYONE USING? I don't understand how it works so well, you can clearly see it soaking into the wood, it shouldn't be so effective. But it always works. What is that magical glue? I want some!

The poster said in another comment the glue is Cyanoacrylate, which is the industrial name for a quick bonding super glue/crazy glue. I've paid anything from $2 for a pack of 8 super glue to much more expensive stuff. I doubt all were this Cyanoacrylate, so you can't rely on it just being called super glue.

Интересны: дальность, мощность и прицельность. На дротики сзади надо вешать стабилизаторы. Как вариант, деревянный дротик, с металлическим наконечником или иглой.

Я думаю мощность и дальность будут зависеть от того какую резинку будешь использовать , точнее её натяжение .
