This was great - I looked at this on ebay, but wasn't sure how it would work. I do dollhouse miniatures and I bake the canes before slicing just like you would do for nail art canes, it is hard to get the slices as thin and straight as I want them. This looks like it will do what I want.

Sorry for the late comment but are there any marks on the base to measure the thickness of the slice? I am thinking of buying this since I make small/medium canes and have trouble slicing them evenly.

Is there also a machine that automatically cuts the canes ?
@MrSasyB5 жыл бұрын
I kinda wanna try this with fondant. I'm only scared it would be too soft.
@PolymerClayTutor5 жыл бұрын
This product is no longer available anyway, but yeah, fondant would be tricky to cut in here because it is so soft. Perhaps if it were frozen, it might work, but with all the ridges in it, I think it would get all gummed up. A clay blade would work well though. Have you tried one of them to cut fondant?

Do you like this tool better than the polymer cane extruder tool for slicing? Or do you think this one has more usage options? I was thinking of buying one of these two but I would want an expert opinion. Like yours...😉
@Yannarra10 жыл бұрын
I second this
@PolymerClayTutor10 жыл бұрын
Flower GemsGirl and Yannarra Well, since each tool works a little differently and has different advantages... so which one would be best for you depends on what you are using it for. If you need the canes to be the exact size and shape every time (like piecing together perfectly square canes), then the Polymer Cane Extruder would be best for you. If you work with a variety of sizes as well as baked and raw canes, then the Polyslicer would be better for you. I will probably find I will go back and forth between tools, depending on the project... but I do know I'll use them a lot!

Hi, I was just wondering why do you have a uv lamp in your polymer clay work area?
@PolymerClayTutor8 жыл бұрын
Hi P. Edgecomb, No, I don't think that would work very well. It would be too hard to line things up without damaging either machines. You'd be better off either freezing the cane before slicing or using a scrap clay base (I have a video on that in my channel). Good thinking though... it is always good to try and think of different and new ways to do things! :)

Hi Irie, no they are no longer selling this product. (The quality dropped considerably after this particular cutter was reviewed, so I guess that is good that it is no longer available.) A much higher quality slicer (though more expensive) is the Lucy Clay Mini Slicer. I have a review on that in my channel if you want to check it out. Thanks for commenting!

@PolymerClayTutor10 жыл бұрын
Ankita mahajan No you can not bake polymer clay in the microwave unless it was specifically designed to do so. It will quickly expand and burn... so don't even try it. My channel has lots of baking videos that will help, so make sure to watch those. And go to our site at www.polymerclaytutor.com for more info if you need it.

I am just watching this in February 2020 and am disappointed to read that they altered the design making it no longer a recommended tool. I thought I had finally found a useful cane cutter. The only improvement I would like is one that had a ruler attached so you could be sure your sizes were all identical.
