Honestly, for a first time, Steve did a GREAT job! I'm a nail DIY-er who has dabbled in this for about 4 years, and i STILL struggle with getting the thickness right, especially with inlays. Susie is the BEST teacher! She knows how to give constuctive advice without making the student feel bad. She highlights the things they are doing right and explains how they can improve on the things they aren't. Love these vids!!❤

Firstly, Steve's first set was SO good for a 1st time! (Way better than my first set was on myself and it was just a french manicure in the dip system!) Secondly, I LOVE this video idea. The ledge at the cuticle is one of my biggest issues STILL after like FIVE years of doing my own dip nails (which i hate to admit 😂) Id love to see more videos like this bringing in Steve and checking his work and progress. Or even other people's too.

Mad respekt for Steve to not only "nail" his very first set of nails this good, but espacialy beeing open to get his work "ripped" apart in this video so everyone can learn from this!!! Thank you very much🤗 Suzie did a great job showing and explaining the the fails and the good work that was done and showing how to improve. Also thank you to this beautyful model! 6.5 hours is a long time - but normal for beginners. You need that time to work and learn. Your Nails look happy and healthy - no overfiling, cuts or dryness. Great idea for a video. Would love to see more of this.

I did learn a lot from this. I learned that in order to do this right, it's absolutely not something I'm interested in doing. That, in itself, is a valuable as learning how to do it right (for those who want to do it), so it's still a win. Watching this, I've learned I'd much rather just pay a professional to do it for me as opposed to doing it myself; I just don't have the patience. The only question now is, what do I do with this massive horde of supplies (I tend to over-buy for a new hobby before I even whether or not I'll like doing it)?

Oh Steve baby, your comment about it taking 6.5 hours? Don’t you fret, you’re in good company ♥️ I don’t like to talk about this bc it can often wreck my confidence, but I want to pass along some reassurance for you and any other new techs out there experiencing this as well… I’ve been doing nails for 10+ years and I still have sets that take me upwards of ~4+ hours. Of all the nail-set related stressors, 95% can be attributed to the long duration time 😭 I’ve come to the very precipice of a panic attack at least twice in the past year. I’ve hovered within that level of intense anxiety countless times. Even if clients haven’t said anything or haven’t shown any overt frustration , I just really work myself up over it taking so long. I’m constantly translating every intonation, every movement of the client into it being their way to express irritation at being there for so long already; I convince myself that they are super annoyed and frequently end up with a mindset of absolute certainty that they will never come back to me again! At its worst, it’s made me consider more than a couple times to bow out of nail care altogether. But then…I hear other nail pros who have several more years of experience start to talk frustrations about how long some sets take them and found it to be incredibly comforting; so just know that it may take quite a while but eventually you’ll start to improve your work time. In the meantime, try to remind yourself that you’re far from alone in this regard 🤗 Good luck to you sweetie #TeamSteve 😂

I love that video, I have been doing nails for some time now and I still find knowing how thick to do them difficult, whether they are full sets, overlays on natural nails or nail repairs. Sometimes they are just right sometimes i go a bit too thin. The longer I do nails the more fussy I get and so its taking me longer now than ever. I think its time to do some more training on structure but the last course I did was so very disappointing I need to do my home work. PS: I really miss the Grant videos too. Also I would Love to learn more about how to avoid getting the ledge at the cuticle and the lifting back there with different systems from acrylic, to gels, and dip systems. I always have to go back agter about a week or so and refill the cuticle area because I always end up with a little lift back there and it gets rough and scratchy and pulls my hair. which means I usually have to file off all coagel top coat and fix the cuticle area then reapply my gel top coat. I SO wish we lived closer to one another because my nails would be perfect for you to use in a teaching video. 😂

Ive been doing my own nails like 5 times, only gel polish btw, and i still suck at all fingers fully adhering, as in this time i had my middle finger on one hand just pop off the topcoat (primer, rubber base, mica powder, topcoat) and on a corner here and there its not been fully covered with topcoat so the mica powder has just said bye when i washed my hands and only the rubber base is there.. and im getting a lot better at not flooding my cuticle and having a smooth edge, actually when i think about it the topcoat that popped off, only the bit that was stuck to the sidewall stayed, that might be why only that nail got messed up cause it was the only cuticle/sidewall i flooded, woo look at me learning 😁

Doing my nails is the only kind of pampering i truly enjoy going to nail salons. i have tried doing it again but i keep getting contact dermatitis so I stopped. Would it still be possible to do my nails and what other options would you recommend? Any answer is much appreciated!

Hello Suzie. I have a question. I would like to use my nails as long as i can. i use clear gel for this so there is no difference in terms of colour.. my natural nail matches the colour of the gel. and then i apply white gel to tip of the nail. to keep it strong.. i do it all because my nails are very weak and i cannot do these all frequently. . can you do a video about this? just with clear gel and white gel at tips and create a short nail so we can use it as long as we can. i want to do it better, i think i cant... i hope my english not very bad and i explained it well🥲

Hi! How are you?! I have a question, so my natural nails are a good length which I’m happy with but since I just had a baby 2 months ago I’ve been so busy taking care of him I haven’t taken care of myself. My nails are breaking like corners break off and I want them to stay all the same size, so my question is, what can I use to make them hard and sturdy? I don’t want to use acrylic because I don’t have time to perfect them and I know acrylic needs a lot of time, I heard gel was good but I don’t know what that is really. Could you give me some advice on what you think would be best for me, something that will make them strong and pretty but won’t take too much time. I also want to paint them and make them look nice!
@NailCareerEducation
@NailCareerEducation Ай бұрын
Yes, acrylic is the most effective, but it’s very hard to find somebody who’s very good at it. So I do recommend a thin layer of hard gel as long as you keep them short make sure the hard gel is brought right to the corners though. Because that’s where you seem to need the strength. But once you go longer with them with your nails will want to do because you’ve got that layer protection. You’ll start to have to add an Apex to compensate for the length. But if you keep them short, you don’t have to start sculpting and building these nails.
