I definitely agree that extensions help with nail biting and using nails as tools - just coating them doesn't deter from messing with them, but with a little bit of length that I am not used to, I take much better care of them in general.

I used to be a habitual nail biter because of stress and anxiety. Even when I wasn't either of those things, I did it whenever I was bored. People don't wanna say it, but nail biting is a form of self harm! I remember when I was so self conscious of my hands and fingers and would cover them and angle them away from people so they wouldn't point out how bad they were. They were painful most of the time. I would sometimes get infections and at one point I even got periungual warts, which made it difficult to go to any nail tech without shame and them getting worried with cleanliness and bleeding. When I recovered from my depression, I had the will to work on my nail health. Glue-on extensions were what ultimately helped me and stopped me from biting my nails at all. I lost a 5+ year habit over several months. I still struggled with my cuticles by over trimming them, but the excess dead skin was better treated with regular exfoliation and moisturizer/cuticle oil. I froze off the warts and finally my fingers looked the most normal and healthy since forever. Now, I grow out my nails naturally and have to do little to nothing to maintain their health. They're beautiful and I even get compliments about them! I still do have issues with over trimming and picking at my cuticles, but now I'm never ashamed of my fingers. You've done this woman a huge service and the consistency is worth it!

You are amazing. I have never been a nail biter because I have hard nails but the skin/cuticle around my nails have been a problem. Clip, pull, pick, chew; man I can’t stand it. Pulls in my clothes, bandaids on almost every finger. I understand the pain and embarrassment. Started getting acrylics done and there is something about the process. It helps so much. I would love a deep cuticle clean some day. For now I watch your videos

Amazing work. 30yrs of nail biting and now I'm 3yrs with no nail biting. My nails are so different and so healthy. All the little cuticle cuts from biting the skin have healed and my formerly long cuticle skin (like Anna) is so much less and much more manageable. I'm trying to grow them a little longer because I overfiled a few so I can get into the salon. I'm so glad I stopped biting them 💅

in the cuticle push back, our salon uses warm water to soften the cuticle. do you ever do that? alcohol to clean out the moisture so we can apply extensions. especially if the client has tough cuticles it helps make things easier for the cuticle work.
@KateandBree
@KateandBree 2 күн бұрын
You can’t get all the moisture out this way and so the nail will still shrink a little (at least this is what I’ve experienced with my nails.) Dry dry is much better.

Hello, I love your videos and have a question. So I have pretty large nail beds, keep my cuticles trimmed etc., but i can't seem to get any products to stick to my nails. I tried press in nails, nail glue, they popped off at the slightest pressure applied. When i do nail polish, parts of it start sliding off the next day. When i tried to do my own nails with UV polish & gel, thry lasted a little longer (about 3 days) but then started popping off too. Any idea on what's the problem/what's causing the products to not stick to my nails?

im 24 and i have a nail biting problem but it got worse. i constantly pick at them, file them and cut them, so i have very little nail left on my ring fingers and im very sensitive to hot water. i went to a nail stylist once and she had to use the smallest brushes she has...

I don’t think we should blame the client for being “sensitive”. Sometimes we have to put our ego aside and understand that WE cause discomfort to clients sometimes. The client complained about a burning sensation and the only way for that to happen is if you are going over the same area for too long, causing a buildup of heat and having an RPM of 15,000 is pretty high for cleaning the cuticles and will cause a quick heat spike especially if you’re passing over a certain area a few times. Having a lower RPM leaves a little more room to go over a stubborn area a little longer.
@LenoraLeStrange-z7l

It didn’t come off like she was blaming the client. It seemed like she was just telling us about the client. But that’s just me.

Also I will say , when I was a nailbiter and went to get acrylics back in my younger years. It would be a lot more sensitive with the drill than any normal person because I think you _sensitize_ your nails & cuticles so much by biting them ☹️
