Please please read the SDS for the product, and really study the dangers of improper use of gel, as she could develop serious allergies to the product called contact dermatitis! DIY nails are so fun, but gel is sadly a product not to be used without proper training.

The nail industry has changed dramatically since I graduated from cosmetology school in 1998. When I was in grade school, I remember using Lee press-on nails (which my mom used to have to pick out of the carpet, lol) and drugstore nail tips. When I worked at a salon in a popular casino the most popular medium we used was acrylic over tips, yet I loved to build on a form. I’m no longer working in a salon because I developed an allergy to acrylic and have become overly sensitive to the smell, including the smell of polish. But gel has allowed me to get back into it. Thanks for sharing and giving me some well needed confidence

Fellow nail tech here. You don’t need to put anything on the nail in between filing the builder gel and the colour. Gel will stick to gel even after it’s filed or buffed. Just to save you time. In case you didn’t know. Also after filing or buffing I will clean with the dust brush but also wipe with alcohol. ❤ I love your videos. Thank you

Is there a reason you don't use nail dehydrator?
@lunaredgraveАй бұрын
I think she already has a thin layer of product in there (her other nails have products on them) and since product sticks to product I guess she didn't bother dehydrating them.
@Sheywh12Ай бұрын
Alcohol is a dehydrator too. Bridge maybe both??
@NailCareerEducationАй бұрын
Whenever I start a service, a client and myself will always wash our hands. So in this case, I didn’t cover that part simply because I’m starting at the Nail table. When it comes to gel nails most people tend to use alcohol but I find I don’t like to use that when I’m first starting. And I do have a thin layer of acrylic already on the nail even though I’m simulating my nail as a natural nail. Because I’m assuming that’s what the customer at home is doing. But I always keep a thin layer on my nails to protect my nails because I’m changing the product out so often. But if I was doing it, I still might not use alcohol, but I might reach for a dehydrator or swipe the nail with acetone. If I find there is a lot of natural oils with that particular customer.

Advice needed: please 🙏 help! I’m self taught and have been doing my nails for almost 8 years now. I find it so relaxing and enjoyable and I love watching your videos. I have done other peoples nails, but for some reason, my daughter’s nails never stay on. I’m running out of ideas. Even when I went to the salon last year for her birthday to get her nails done, they were popping off within a week by a week and a half no nails were left. I’ve been looking for maybe an acid primer, but I’m pretty sure they use that at the nail salon ? Was wondering if you had any advice? Is it possible that gel nails just aren’t compatible for some people?
@AK-kl7pg10 күн бұрын
Sadly, for some, gel just does not want to stay on. A friend has "moist" nails and nothing stays on (gel, acrylic, dip). So she just does regular polish when she only needs a day or two for a special occasion. Another friend with super thin and flexible nails can't keep them on either. 😢

I've always wondered, we're told it's best to put thin layers of gel or it won't cure properly. Why is it we're able to cure thicker layers of builder gel or especially cure, including top coats? Is it because it's clear and the light can penetrate and cure it all (whereas color/pigment would block it leading to uncured gel underneath the surface layer)? hopefully that's not a "duh" question 😅

Great video! My biggest problem is fitting my form properly. For some reason it all looks perfectly straight but then when I take off my form my nail points upwards. The best lamp to buy depends on the Gel you’re using. Gel is designed to be cured by a specific lamp- so whichever Gel your using check the type of Lamp that’s required to cure that specific gel

This is a helpful video. However, I do have a question about the forms and nail length. What if someone, like myself, has very short nails with no visible nail tip? I have weak nails so I need to keep mine very short, but these nails forms and the gel look so hopeful to me, haha, so if you can do a video based on what I mentioned, that'd be great! I can't keep full coverage nails glued on, or nail tips. They just do not stay on, no matter how well I prepare my natural nails. I have crappy nails :( My mom uses KISS brands nail glues for herself, but it just does not work for me.

Do you know what grit the sanding sponge is by chance? And why is the sanding sponge important? I can't wait until I can afford your products! I've been doing my own nails for about 3 years and I know your products will be an upgrade from the products I use now haha! :)
@NailCareerEducationАй бұрын
The sanding sponge grit is 80/80. It’s perfect for prepping the nails the gel polish will adhere. If you send the Nail with two fine of a grit and the gel polish will chip, it won’t grip onto the nail.

I’ve been using nail forms for my builder gel for a couple months now. I find that a lot of time, the builder gel seeps under my nails a lot (seeping/bleeding between the nail form and my natural nail). Is this normal? If not, is there a better way for it to not seep between?
