Fastest Acrylic Nails Record (7mins 56 sec.) ...BUT did she cheat because she used dual forms?
NO, she did not, for the record. Though, at the time, many thought she was doing something illegal, she was rather innovative and thinking outside the box, all within the guidelines.
Here on the scene at the 2013 Nailpro Pasadena Show. Tammy Taylor loses her 25+ year-long Guinness world record for the fastest set of pink and white sculptured acrylic nails. She lost to Amy Becker, who, rather than using traditional free forms (paper forms, nail forms), used dual forms.
Who do you consider the winner?

All I know is that I give Amy props for not getting up and punching some of these people straight in their throat. The woman speaking behind the camera doesn’t even know the rules, but she’s quick to make little dumb ass comments...and honestly, it’s a whole shit show and I really hope that 7 years later Tammy’s gone on to apologize to Amy for the lack of respect and sportsmanship.

I'm so mad that everyone is hating on Amy. She won for a reason and even the judge said that there is no clear winner until i say there's a winner. Did you see all the other nail tech's faces? All filled with hatred. That is sad. There should be better sportsmanship than this!!! Congrats to Amy, she clearly deserved it.

Shame on all those nasty people, you are not part of the judging staff, so why even chime in. I am sure Tammy did a great job, but she was just not the winner. And frankly, if some of the other competitors had people saying such rude comments and screaming next to anyone else it would have been a problem too. Amy followed the rules, she came prepared, she didn't need an army of screaming people with her. I believe they changed the rules after because so many people complained, but come on, take your sour grapes, zip it and go home. She won, better luck next time... People just have nothing better to do I guess...

Awesome win, Amy! Using acrylic nail forms instead of paper forms was incredibly creative. I love that your unqiue spin created a clean shiny surface, almost no buffing, and the competition was for the fastest finished nails. You just used a common nail form in a very imaginative and creative way by sculpture in reverse- and set the record. How cool is that? No regrets, you beat the competition with a new rendition, like a true artist.

regardless of anyone's opinion, that was just plain RUDE and uncalled for. She followed the rules as they were stated. its not her fault that the rules werent clearly specified. though now the rules have been changed after this competition so that no one can do this in the future, she still won fair and square. tammy has won 20+ years in a row, time to give someone else a shot! she may be great, but c'mon! you would think after all of those years she would have learned some humility and respect!!! especially respect for other artists/techs! we are all in the same boat, really. Aren't we? we should be SUPPORTING each other... NOT bad-mouthing one another. what a shame that people act this way. if you dont agree with it, thats fine, but leave your attitude at the door. if you wanted to say something about it, at least wait until you get home. this was supposed to be a somewhat professional setting. not some gossipy mess that it turned out to be with the side-lined Tammy minions. Jealousy is what is comes down to. its a damn shame. it really is... :/

I'm a nail tech and recognise what a tough, bitchy industry it is, Amy chose to think outside the box to cut her time in 2013 and now in 2017 duel forms or 'reverse forms' are widely used... times change due to innovation. Amy got fastest pink and whites with her forms and Tammy got fastest with standard forms, everybody wins :)

Tammy comes off as such a sore looser.. It makes me see her in a different light. As she is such a "longtime respected professional" in the nail industry, she would of come off far better if she would have just congratulated Amy, waited for them to change the wording in the rules for the upcoming year, "WHICH THEY DID" and competed as usual, won, and reclaimed her title. Amy Becker won the speed nail title fair and square. If she didnt, Guiness would have never gave it to her. They are kind of particular like that in case you haven't heard......

LOL LOL YALL KILL ME! It is a nail form! Its just NOT a traditional nail form! Do your research! At the end of the day the rules are not about the appearance of the nails. Meaning salon quality work. She did her research found a way to speed up the acrylic and she did her thang! If it was one of the other ctechs that had did this and won ( tammy talylor) noone would be saying anything! But because their favorite didnt win this time all yall are butt hurt! She won! Thats that! Lol lol yall kill me like yall getting $ or some recognition for this! Congrats maam on your victory!

Thinking outside of the box is why we are all so creative and inventive! Where would Tammy Taylor be without thinking outside of the box. She is a thriving business woman with an acrylic company that people mimic everyday. As is Amy with Masterworks. I have been a nail tech and instructor for 21 years. When I see something new and creative in our industry I say BRAVO, how can I do that or how can I do that even better. Encourage each other if you tear each other down , we tear our industry down.

I just found these videos lol its old tea but Im living for it.. Coming into the competition thinking no ones going to use forms then having someone win with forms..I think I would be mad too but at the end of the day Amy researched the rules and found a way around them LOL so yeah she did win, she didnt cheat. Fastest Set of Acrylic Nails ...or should it be called Fastest Technique for Acrylic Nails world record because if that was the case she still won. It wasn't called Fastest Set Using a Certain Technique lol ..it was just called "worlds fastest set of acrylic nails" right? She won..

She did not just 'squeezed' it in a form she had to shape out the gels and make then even in height. The rules clearly said "no tips" they never said no forms and the whole competition was about THE FASTEST set of sculpted nails not the most beautiful adequate set of nails. As long as the nail was well buffed and done fast then its a go,those fans of Tammy are so rude. They did not think about accusing her of cheating, so sad. She won fair and square. Good luck next time Tammy.

She did her work and at the end of the day that speaks volumes and Tammy throwing her certificate in Amy's face was down right unprofessional... For the record, she didn't cheat. It is very irresponsible to make claims like that. The rules stated that she needed to use FORMS. She used tips as her forms. She still sculpted the smile line with her brush. Trust me, NONE of the nails were "pretty". The rules stated that you were only judged on appearance if there was a tie. With stop watches that come to 1/100 of a second there was little chance of a tie. She thought outside of the box and she won.

Sorry for the SORE loosers but if the Guinness Records gave her the title the sorry to say; she won. They are not going to give the title to the first cheater. She did what they stipulated just in a different way. Hats off to all the competitors but she was more wise, there are rules but if they don't make them crystal clear there are ways to go around them and still win LEGALLY

I can not believe how nasty people cane be. Amy did not use tips, they are forms, just not in the typical way most people know them. Amy did nothing against the rules, if she did, they would have not allowed her to win. People need to keep their favoritism to themselves and stop acting like school yard bullies. Maybe it's a bit of jealousy that no one else had the idea to use these types of forms.

I'm torn on this one. As a licensed nail professional, I think its a disgrace to enter a SCULPTURED nail competition and use anything other than what we professionals accept know as a NAIL FORM. WE set the standards for our industry. On the other hand, if I wanted to win a Guiness World Record and found a way to exploit a loophole, shame on Guiness and the Nail Industry for not clearly defining the rules. Amy should use a pic of her winning nails along with her certificate to show off her win.

Look at all of these bullies. Sound like a bunch of middle aged women stuck in high school mentality. Hating on enginuity. Pushing the boundaries renders new and innovative ways of attaining the desired result. These women, obviously empowered by their multitude, lean their claps over the spectator line to rub it into the face of the proported winner. These are the same types of human beings that get tickled inside dispensing gossip - and I'm sure they'll be getting bum-hurt about this for years. Let's congratulate a person, pursue a more humble demeanor, and if desiring something come from this - let it be new future guidelines for competitions, and not desiring ill will in the form of shame or embarrassment towards another. Shame on these childish displays by embarrassments of the female species.

To be fair guys, it really wasn’t Tammy who was behaving badly, it was her supporters 🤷🏻‍♂️. Granted, Tammy didn’t immediately approach Amy, but it wasn’t her who was causing a scene. She was holding her certificate up for her supporters to see, not to wave it in Amy’s face. And she understood that the rules had been written in such a way that Amy could use reverse forms and still win the competition. Unfortunately, what should have been a fun event for all ended up just being an opportunity for some folks to play the drama queen! Good on Amy AND good on Tammy too 👍🏽 xx

She looked pretty happy for someone that just lost her title of twenty five years and just took second place. My sarcastic point being that, really she didnt believe lost or took second place. In her eyes she was the winner.

Christian Fierro EXACTLY, and they were the following year.... Tammy and her supporters came off very poorly acting that way... I like when she stood up and declared HERS "a REAL set of sculptured nails".... What a tool to try and take away from someone else's victory.... I made a comment on her "claimed win", sounding much as this one is written, nothing rude, just stating the facts, and pointing out that she could of handled herself better, and been a better sport.... Of course it has been deleted... Seeing what her true character is it didnt really surprise me.... It just dissapointed me. Ive come to now see her in a different light after all of these years.... She is the type that if she doesnt win she will throw shade on the person that did... Kinda sad really.... I used to think of her and her products wanting to help techs do and achieve great things in the nail business, but I guess your allowed as long as you dont come out doing it better than she does.... She is the new Kanye.....lol

So So happy for Amy , clearly she is a lot smarter then the other's and that is what pissed them off because they didn't think of it first !!! LMAO How cool of your win Amy , so excited for you !..."Sore loser's" did everyone see Tammy Taylor trying too show off her second place winning certificate and how her fan's screamed for her like she won the big prize hahaha !! How embarrassed she should of felt just from acting like that , what a crappy person Tammy is . Make's me wonder if she even had the decency to congratulate Amy for her great win , and Tammy's follower's also ?!? " DOUBT THAT " Oh well the winner say's " WHAT!!!! " LOLOLOLOLOL

just like all of their competitions...they are pointless. keep it real people....the everyday nail world has nothing to do with this. 7:56 for a nail set = 5.6 seconds to pop them all off.

pues yo opino Tammy se vio muy ardida al querer presumerle al publico. Si efecti9vamente es muy buena en lo que hace y muy rapida, pero hay que saber perder, y ella perdio, que lo supere.

When reading the rules beforehand, the instructor stated that the nails must be finish filed by hand. I would challenge what that means. hWhen using "molds", one advanntage is that there is no filing on the surface; its already smooth and shiny. The only filing that needs to be done is on the sides.. Sooo, if she didn't file the top, in my opinion, it is not finish filed. (which is only stated as a rule anyway because as we all know, true sculptured nails need to be filed smooth).

she just squeeze it in a form. think about this: you can do a vase for flowers handmade with clay, or you squeeze the clay into moulds...

Yeah, I'm definitely not a Tammy fan and I'm not trying to jump on this bandwagon, but Tammy won. The Guinness guidelines don't define "forms" the way we define them. We all know what a sculptured set is. A sculptured set is supposed to be SCULPTED on. There is no sculpting required when you use those press-on forms. You drop the product into the wells and push it on.

Sculptured acrylic nails is not the same as "molded" acrylic nails. I've been a nail tech for over 20 yrs (last 7 yrs using Tammy Taylor Nail products) Tammy Taylor was clearly the winner!!!! Congrats Tammy!!!

First of all she used a mold, not a form. Secondly, her nails looked awful and you couldn't pay me to have the monstrous things on my hands! It is sooo very sad that people have to cheat to win! She said she could do sculptured nails on forms in less than 15 minutes, but she was so afraid to lose to THE TAMMY TAYLOR of TAMMY TAYLOR NAILS that she had to cheat to do it. Pitiful! TAMMY TAYLOR still holds the World Record of doing the fastest set of SCULPTURED NAILS WITH FORMS at 12 mins 37 secs!!!

omg, to put acryl in a mould and squeeze it on a nail have nothing to do with sculptured nails. the acryl dont need to get sculptured... here in germany just poor housewives do their nails with this squeezing forms... a real nail tech would never do. Tammy is still the fastest one by doing p/w system.

Just watched this and I have to say she may not have cheated but she absolutely exploited a loop hole in the rules to win...in my opinion not winning with grace and dignity. The onlyy way she could beat the record holder for over 20 years was to exploit a loop hole...what does that tell you? She couldn't have won the conventional way! Well done Tammy. The winner in my eyes anyway as you did do a set of "real" sculptured nails!

Wow....as a pro nail tech (and not a TT fan), the fact that she had to keep insisting they were forms just tells you how big of a hustle she knew she was pulling. "Forms" as any pro would define them are a foil sticker. Not, a preformed mold. Just lame that she had to cheat to "win", technique like that won't earn you clients. Which, is the whole point of being fast in the first place.
