To be frank, I had absolutely no idea that Thumri can be sung in raag Bhairavi! Thumri is the only version or form which I often avoided to listen in Hindustani Music. But, this is exceptionally rare and touching one for me!. Even though this gentle giant vocalist is smiling and even mischievously twinkling his eyes while singing, his such fluent variation of moods and soul wrenching genuine expressions-which as I perceive, include all the unbearable pain and suffering and joy and hope of mankind itself-reveal the hidden depth, incredible riyaaz, courage, compassion and beauty of this marvellous Artiste. If I daily sincerely listen to and merge with music of these kind of rare gems, I am----I say without vanity but sincerity----surely going deep inside to understand my own true core, colour and voice for contributing something worthwhile, valuable, motivational and beautiful. Music can surely clense, heal and elevate any man who is ready to attune with it and nature besides immersing in it, even by listening, with all meraki. Thank You Bhai.

There are more than twenty versions of this thumri sung by various greats. But personally I find that this rendition by ustadji is the most touching, honest and mellifluous (except bade Ghulam Ali saheb). There are not too many of them by ustadji on KZbin. I wish someone uploads them.

Arif Khan sahib AoA, Phase tell me whether music has an innate & intrinsic magical quality about it? I have requested u because u have in-depth knowledge of music, while my understanding of music is about zero, and yet I have really enjoyed listening to nearly all genres of music over the last more than seven decades. With Allah’s رجمت have recovered from a relatively mild attack of Covid (I had been vaccinated). I have re-listened to this beautiful thumri after reading and keeping in mind your & Surya Spirit’s in-depth comments which substantially enhanced the listening pleasure. The magical qualities of music are simply there for those who have a deeper interest in it and the patience and persona to be able to concentrate and absorb the many aspects of it. To appreciate all the different moods that are reflected in any presentation. Ustad shaukat Manzoor is one of the few finest vocalists still alive and are capable of rendering such classics with an original resemblence and a close to original essence in all regards. His taanbaazi is out of the world! Keep posting this quintessential art. It is one of my primary destinations. I am eternally grateful towards The Dream Journey.

this is pretty good, but have you heard the supreme god of hindustani classical vocal music....ustad bade ghulam sing this thumri, which happens to be is his original creation? sadly i don't know of a longer recording of it; the only one is an hmv (his master's voice) which i just 3 minutes and leaves one so thirsty for more.

Thumri is semi classical where sur n words go together like khan sb did in start perfectly.sarangi is v.difficult as part of tender part of pore is peeled by sharp strings so v.few sarangi nwaz are left.zohaib did great job.love this team.
