My parents purposely made me write with my left hand! I’d naturally put my pencil in my right, but they’d change it to my left. They said it makes me use both sides of my brain! Whether that’s true or not, I am now ambidextrous and have no issue doing my nails as I don’t have a dominant hand! 🤗

I am ambidextrous because when I was kid... it was "wrong" to be left handed... so I got smacked with a ruler, had pictures of a pencil in the right hand taped to my desk and all sorts of other nonsense...

You are the best and you gave me hope ! My pinky nail is not well and I thought it will never recover or grow back. I HAD a nail person that kept telling me I don't need to do full sets after months and months of acrylic fill. Covid forced me to soak them off and I cried for hours. Thank you for instilling my hope again 🙏🤗💞
@calichef19624 жыл бұрын
Well, "need" to soak off really isn't a thing. Yes, lots of nail techs force their clients to soak-off their nails every other visit, but IMO it's NOT truly _necessary._ I've gone YEARS between soak-offs before and my nails were just fine. It didn't damage my nail plate or nail bed or whatever this "need" to force people to soak-off is blamed on.

I'm naturally left handed but due to a work related injury years and years ago I had to also learn to use my right hand and ever since I've kept up the practice. So I'm pretty good with both. Also encouraged my children to use both even though they are all naturally drawn to one or the other. Yes Adam I am a bit crazy not sure if it's because I'm left handed though lol personally I blame my children 😄. Love this set beautiful.

I do the same thing!! As soon as I don’t have my nails done I start to pick!! LOL
@calichef19624 жыл бұрын
I do it, too, and I originally broke my nail biting habit (by keeping acrylic nails on for TWO YEARS without a break) more than 30 years ago! Old habits die HARD. At least I haven't resorted to any nail biting! But pick? Oh, baby, do I ever pick!!! Sometimes even when I have my nails on and the art is up to my standards (which are now INCREDIBLY HIGH, thanks to Kirsty and this channel) I STILL pick at my cuticles if I'm stressed out or bored. But after two decades of nail biting and five decades of picking at my cuticles, the sidewalls are really hard and calloused, so it's easy to pick and get a hangnail started. Then I have to break out the cuticle nippers, and we are off to the races with bloody cuticles.

Hey Kirsty! You are so inspiring! In a bunch of your videos you are wearing beige, short stillettoish nails with a gem in the center of the cuticle. Can you please show us how you do the shape of those nails? Im a beginner trying to teach myself and trying to get the shape with screen shots is driving me CRAZY🤯
@calichef19624 жыл бұрын
I know which nails you're talking about, and if I'm remembering correctly they were the nails Kirsty did after she broke her "poorly" (ring finger on her right hand) nail. I think she called them almond shape, as she never does those tiny, little triangle "baby stiletto" nails that I've seen so many other nail techs do. I get why she doesn't do them, too. They never come out looking like they _could_ be the person's real nails, and they just aren't aesthetically pleasing. They're too severe, IMO.

@calichef19624 жыл бұрын
Yes, she usually calls them "ballerina," which sounds MUCH prettier to my ear. I *NEVER* call them "coffin" nails. I'm OLD. To me, "coffin nails" are cigarettes, NOT a fingernail shape! I even had a cigarette case (back in the early 80s) that _said_ "Coffin Nails" on the outside of the case where EVERYONE could see it! I bought it because I was sick of people thinking they were "informing" me when they'd tell me cigarettes were going to kill me, as if I wasn't fully aware! Half of those people smoked like chimneys, themselves! This past Star Wars Day (May the fourth be with you!) was the fourth anniversary of my quitting smoking.
