Absolutely great fishing and what a lovely wee river. That 20lb fish was a stunning fish ....well done!

Thanks it was a real specimen fish for the Nairn i caught it April 16 miles up the river. Nairn can provide superb sport on a wee switch or single handed rod.

Great video and some cracking fish. The river Nairn was where it all started for me, ive been salmon fishing ever since and it gave me the bug big time. I was on a family holiday at Kilravock castle and caught a grilse underneath an old stone bridge at the top of their beat. That was 40yrs ago and i can still remember it to this day. I will need to go back and fish this super wee river. Any advice where to start would be appreciated

Thanks Ian, yes i know where you caught the fish that would be the Bridge pool. The local club have so much fishing on the river now so can be difficult to know where to start but i can drop you a message to give some advice. As you know being a spate river its all dependant on water, Dave

What a lovely river, small but holding salmon, from the release shots I could see why you were fishing from the bank at times as the river drops quite steeply into deeper water. Those were beautiful bright salmon. Take care of the river and stay safe. David from Canada

Thank you David its the smallest river i fish but it does produce some big fish. The 20lb is the best looking salmon i have ever caught.

Hi, nice videos. I sometimes fish on the river nairn for trout as my relatives live at Milton of Kilravock. I'd like to try for a salmon. What size/spec of rod would you recommend? Any fly recommendations? Thanks
@nairnfly2 жыл бұрын
Some people use a trout rod but i would recommend a switch rod the shakespeare version is a good option. For Flys Allys shrimp or Flamethrower are good options.

Am going to pre book 4-5 days fishing on this wee gem. What time would you think is best to have a really good chance of a springer?
@nairnfly3 жыл бұрын
Hi Gavin i would say mid April to mid May dependant on conditions.
