They could have done closed drainages to improve the walkable spaces given that the columns have eaten huge chunks of the sidewalks

No respectable city should be constructing open drainage culverts in this time and age. Also that road is too busy to have a crosswalk/zebra crossing. It will undo all the work they have done to keep vehicular traffic moving.
@ThisIsAfrica2 жыл бұрын
I agree. They should be covered and be used as sidewalks

At this point in time I think its practical to leave them open. We do not have a good strategy for keeping closed drains running. Perhaps in the future when there's an effective drain maintenance strategy, they can be covered

Beautiful. Why are they wasting that space next to the drainage instead of expanding the side walk there considering that pedestrians will have to brush their bodies against the pillars to pass?? Or better cover that drainage.

I don't understand why they are constructing open drainage and especially in a City like Nairobi

@@ThisIsAfrica There are areas that the drainage is being covered near the Green Park Terminus.

I am assuming they will go back and cover the drainage later. If they do not do that, the may have to spent a lot to keep them flowing by digging out debris frequently.

Thanks alot for your Clear and informative update my friend. First, I wish I was there to tell off the lady who threw the empty plastic bottle… 4:00 shame shame👀. I’m yet to see a contractor who actually clears all their mess. Shouldn’t what a contractor does on finishing their work be part of the process during procurement prior to giving them a contract?… Those drains should have grills and probably have barriers to protect pedestrians from fast moving traffic.Please let’s have common sense… it’s free.

Hello, I have read your points and thank you for taking your time to write. Throwing trash is something that we need to look at both the government and people so I agree. I do hope before the road is launched, everything under road A104 will be better than it was with cooperation between the contractor and the local government

I agree with many people that they could have done better with the walkways. People have to go around those giant pillars in the middle of sidewalks.
@ubaachieng46682 жыл бұрын
I think is will be okay unless the green park brings a lot of pedestrians over these walkways, especially if the come at the same time. Normal pedestrian traffic should be okay.

Good progress but these pillars have numerously obstructed the walkways thus exposing pedestrians to harm's way by being knocked down by speeding cars

Pedestrians crossing mark, that's good no need of those ugly footbridges. Motorist should yield for pedestrians. The pedestrians have the right of way at that zebra crossing marks, but since this is a busy road they should install traffic signal light, to regulate the traffic

Traffic lights will bring some law and order to our motorist and pedestrians on our roads
@theworldtraveller84812 жыл бұрын
I believe time is so valuable for motorists to water 5mins every 15mins at the traffic lights. I believe there should be uninterrupted smooth flow of traffic. Except even more time to be wasted on the pedestrian crossing once the Green park becomes operational. A flyover will finally be the solution here.
