Your friend is such a vibe and seems like she had a good time in Nairobi/Kenya. Learn from her on picking Kiswahili words quickly and pronunciation as well, I bet if she stayed here longer she'd learn it really quickly. I know Kilimani, Westlands, Kileleshwa, Lavington areas are a favourite with many expats and foreigners but they are mostly overpriced especially when it comes to AirBnB's. There's a lot of options in Nairobi in many neighbourhoods especially middle class areas with supporting amenities whether it is in Lang'ata or other Southern subrurbs, Thika rd neighbourhoods and even Eastlands, you just have to look for them and have an open mind. Nairobi can be expensive if you want to live the high life but in reality it can support any budget it just depends on your lifestyle and willingness to compromise in some things. All the best to your friend and safe travels.

The phrase Hakuna Matata was popularized by a Kenyan Band called Them Mushrooms in the early 80s. A song welcoming visitors to Kenya telling them Kenya Hakuna Matata. Later on made world famous in the Lion King movie

About the slums, I would really like you to ask yourself this question, What is the work for this big organisations in Kenya and the world? They use it to run there businesses, and the slums are part of it ...and that's why you see they advertise Africa with slums only, the 3rd president had started to change the slums image and was fought for it and his project never went through.....

Having lived in Nairobi for so long am amazed at how many times other foreigners are surprised by how 'safe' and developed Nairobi is. Am always asking myself what are the true expectations, I would love to go to Europe and really have an understanding on what conversations are really being said about Africa. Also, you look 100% Kenyan. I think I know at least 10 Kenyan girls who look and sound exactly like you. Also, you need to go to Naivasha. Naivasha is a whole other experience.

Saw you girls some other time in Emara rooftop but was in a large company and didn't say hi. Cheers. Kenya needs visitors and immigrants like you. Probably because it inadvertently funds & promotes human trafficking, many of the beggars you see in Nairobi are not Kenyans, they're vulnerable people from neighbouring countries like Tanzania & Burundi who are trafficked into Kenya & forced to beg on the streets, to make a killing for some greedy individuals. Look up "forced to beg" on here, BBC Africa did a segment about it, there's also a discussion on Spice FMs KZbin channel where some Kenyan presenters talk about it.

The problem you think Kenya things are very cheap. Kenya has become very expensive even than in Europe in some items. In Eastleigh if you go very modern your counterparts will not like it

BTW, Somalia and Kenya is really like one country. Kenya has a large and thriving Somali community - with Eastleigh being their main commercial base.

@@nomadstar5454 why would any country in this world 🌍 want to be considered the same as shithole Somalia? Surely? Are you even serious? I know misery loves company but Kenya and Som is like light and day. The fact that there are some ethnic somalis in Kenya should never confuse anyone that we are similar.
