Zambians are not good at business, I lived there for more than a decade and realized that without foreigners, Zambia's economy would go down. And foreigners doing business there are also strong because they are not at peace with how badly they are treated by the immigration of Zambia.

Can I say something on Mbeya to Tunduma cars stoppage? The area has a high rate of vehicle accident so 1. They stop cars to enable only long vehicles move alone for sometimes (few minutes) to minimize road congestions 2. They protected you from any incident of accident Plan is underway to make the road a four ways one from Mbeya to Tunduma

Zimbabwean and South African number plate use combination of letters and numbers but those letters don't say anything about the country. In Zim, they have the national coat of arms to show they are from Zim, in South Africa, the number plate differ according to the province. for example, in North West Province the last letters are "NW" in Limpopo it is "L" and in Gauteng it's "GP". it goes on like that to all 9 Provinces. Most of Zim plates I see in SA, they have yellow background with black letters. In SA the colour of the plate is determined by each province. It is common to see a personalized number plate in South Africa, for example your can be "LIV-KENYA-GP" if you are in Gauteng Province.

Thank you for sharing your frustration @40:00, Zambian traffic cops are menace when travelling through the country. I've had a similar experience when I was driving through Livingstone, heading to Lusaka from Botswana. We faced the same issue you described, the same script of their inability to track foreign registered vehicles and restrictions was played on us, we were pressed for time so we left a K500. I had corporate friends visiting Africa for the first time and were so spooked hearing about the restrictions and knowing the country has malaria cases, made them so unease when the imagined spending the night in the open. When we got to Lusaka, I was pulled over for supposedly missing a stop sign that apparently had been uprooted by a vehicle accident some time back and hadn't been replaced yet. After about an hour of trying to explain why you'd impound a vehicle over a sign that doesn't exist, I got exhausted and left a K400. As if that wasn't enough, I was pulled over later that day, along Cairo Road, the main boulevard Cairo, I geo tagged the place on my device hoping it would be a big case given the sign the cop waived at me demanding me to pull over, this time around it was for not taking an exit turn after I was found driving on a filter road in what appeared to be a two lane but was apparently was a three lane way, when I asked how I could have known, the cop said the marking had just faded but I was in a filter lane. This was in the CBD of Lusaka. That's how I gave up. These days when talking to colleagues, I'd say avoid big cities if you can. It will ruin your mood and experience and you might end up thinking every Zambian is a corrupt . I haven't done any Zambian tours since, and when I advise friends I'd say just do the Vic falls, if you plan to do Mfuwe, better fly there. Many overlanders have horrific stories of how traffic cops in Zambia just ruin their experiences. While you might still encounter a kind cop who wishes you safe travels, the overall experience can be quite frustrating.
