Maybe you can help me. I downloaded a copy of the service manual and want to check my belts as I am getting poor quality playback. I can't get the darn cover off! Looks so easy. I followed along with you and also referred to the manual but it seems hug up in the middle. Very tight, though ends will come up an 3/4 inch or so. Double checked, can't see any screws I missed. Retired two months ago and want to digitize the 100 or so cassettes I have that were recorded on this deck from 1975 thru 1998 or so,. Thanks

did you figure this out? i'm having the same issue myself
@super8man4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for this. Nice to see it is easy to open up. I have the same model that works fine but will not eject the tape nor open the door. Wondering if it is an easy fix. So far your video gives me hope it is easy to get in there to at least evaluate the situation.

Hey Chris, nice video you made here, thanks ! I am currently servicing a Nakamichi 500 myself, as it eats out tape whren I try yo play one. Was wondering if you could give us a look of the transport once it is opened? Might help a lot to see what's wrong with mine !

is the NAK 500 model using an AC motor ? Belt drive or Direct ?
@chriscooley14094 жыл бұрын
The Nakamichi 500 is belt-driven by a DC servo motor. You can find links to the manuals for this device along with some other useful information here: www.hifiengine.com/manual_library/nakamichi/500-dual-tracer.shtml Hope this helps!

I guess you didn't mention all screws inside the machine to remove the Plastic Cover
@chriscooley14093 жыл бұрын
I might have missed something there - I noted a few of those screws around 2:10 :)
@hammi95733 жыл бұрын
@@chriscooley1409 its not that screw. inside the device.. one between cables and one near the tapedeck.
@chriscooley14093 жыл бұрын
@@hammi9573 I do recall that screw now that you mention it! Yep - def missed mentioning that one.

@@chriscooley1409 Very uncool not to be complete. But I just got mine apart and serviced the dolby switch.

Mine plays too slow and records too fast. How can i fix it? Maybe with the voltage regulator on its back?
@chriscooley14093 жыл бұрын
Hmmm - that sounds tough to diagnose. I doubt it would be the voltage regulator - but more likely there is an issue with the motor itself. Sorry for the late response! Would be interested to know if you ever found a solution!
