no thats not the reson in high gm levels no one says adjust because their opponents know that they move pieces only when they intend to move it so when a gm touches a piece and does not move it automatically opponent understands he is adjusting

Nakamura clearly touched a piece he eventually didn’t play with. At 1:25 you can see he wanted his knight to be nicely placed . But then played with white-squared bishop . Not sure if different rules apply to blitz though

Of course he just wanted to adjust it. The knight is actually pinned and therefore he can't move it.

Nope. Players are allowed to adjust pieces. Naka does it often. He does it more than once in this game. 5:42 he adjusts the rook. He usually does not say anything but his body language and hand motion he communicates adjusts.

@@AKhan0372 players cannot adjust their own pieces without saying "adjust, without being forced to move that piece. In this game, Nakamura adjusted his pinned knight that could not be moved, and adjusted one of his opponent's pieces. In both cases you did not need to say anything. But if he touched some other piece, and did not say anything, and then lifted his fingers, then you bet his opponent would call him on it!
