To celebrate the release of my book, Gameplay Harmonies (link to buy below), we take a look at Nintendo and Square's own Nakayama Miho no Tokimeki High School, on the Famicom Disk System.
It may seem like just your average menu-based adventure game, but it featured '80s and '90s idol singer/actress sensation, Miho Nakayama, and also provided some very interesting video game firsts in the form of encouraging the player to make actual phone calls, and more!

That's pretty wild about the phone call portions. Got to love that the idea was, let's use the phone, and they just went from there. Much less about the idea and more about the gumption! :p

I can definitely respect the gumption too! I can't say this is a GREAT game, but it sure is an interesting one!

Streamed this game a few months back, when the fan translation was finished up. Very odd, yet fun adventure game! Only downside was there was no info i could find on what the phone calls would say or anything, so there was a lot of parts that took some trial and error.

Yeah it's interesting for sure! I had to use some Japanese guides to get through it, and even then it took a bit of trial and error!

Great question! I know that the actual text content of them was preserved, but I'm not aware of any recordings!
