Good review!, if you are all about helping people save money and learn some tricks in a future video regarding hammock camping i highly recommend learning to make your own ridgeline I made mine out of paracord and an adjustable grip hitch/knot. Also to stop water from getting on the hammock simply tying a short length of cord on the carabiners will direct any water running down the straps, onto the carabiner onto the floor (the underside of a wet hammock is not fun)

Great tips!! I didn't know about ridgelines when I started out, so for the few dollars, I was happy to just buy one. Will any paracord work, or are there particular strengths(?) someone would need to use?
@GeoffNewell92
@GeoffNewell92 9 ай бұрын
@@bladesepicadventures7165 there are different strengths of paracord. I am using 4mm or 6mm for my ridgeline. In the hammock community the holy grail of cord to use is Dyneema (You might see people call it Amsteel but Amsteel is just cord made from Dyneema fibres in a particular braid). If you PM me id be happy to organise a call to have a chat and go into more detail and exchange tips :)

@GeoffNewell92 would the excess strap material not drag the water from the carabiners? or would the water follow the top of the carabiner so to not touch the hanging strap
@D4rkm4n-kc2tz
@D4rkm4n-kc2tz 6 ай бұрын
@@Lock9 yeah, I've never had water go down over the carabiners, it must go down the excess strap. And I literally just spent two days in the rain with this hammock and it was dry the whole time.

Excellent review mate! I bought the same set up (hammock & bug net - I already had a tarp large enough ) one a month ago - can't wait to set it up over here in Canada ... I live by the Grand River (near the mouth where there's lots of marsh hence lots of "mozzies". Visited your great country in 1980 ... travelled to the "Red Centre" and up to Darwin !! Love to head back some day !

Glad to hear that you grabbed yourself a set up. Sounds like you will be taking full advantage of that bug net! That said, sounds like a nice area to live (near the river). Let us know how you like it! :)

Great vid ben, Great review, good to see an aussie company featuring 😁 Im onto my second 'hammock bliss' hammock (1st one did 3yrs hard labour before giving out....aussie made too)......hammock camping is grand! 6ft 2 and room to spare in mine, i like that mine has an inbuilt sleeping mat sleeve sewn in and you kind sleep flat on a 45° angle actoss the hammock. Hands down the best night sleep ive had out bush. Will be grabbin one of the flys though....looks a ripper.

@@bladesepicadventures7165 They look the goods but seem pricey 🤑 the one i got just has an inbuilt sleeve to fit your mat, and its got a built in 'no see-um" mesh as well, weights 5/5ths of bugger all too. But look forward to some more gear reviews too. Your water filter? Is that a sawyer squeeze? I like the bag size

Great review and made it clearer how to set up. Just one question, what's the difference between getting a bit or ridgeline compared to using extra string or rope etc. If only used as a guide for hanging at the right distance?
@bladesepicadventures7165
@bladesepicadventures7165 9 ай бұрын
Probably nothing. As long as whatever you use is the right length and doesn't stretch, you should be fine :)

Thanks Lewis - pleased it was able to help. Depending on where you live, coming into summer it'll provide a nice sleep. If you are on the other side of the planet and heading into winter, consider getting yourself an underquilt. I purchased one and it made the hammock so toasty to sleep in!

@@bladesepicadventures7165 does the nakie puffy work for an under quilt? Outside the hammock?? Would two people be able to sleep in this together?
@bladesepicadventures7165
@bladesepicadventures7165 3 жыл бұрын
@@lonsdalewellnessstudio9197 Hi - The hammock could physically hold the weight of two people, as long as they were under 300kgs (combined). But you wouldn't be able to sleep the night. The shape of the hammock would roll you onto each other. So it would be ok for a cuddle, but not for sleeping. As for the puff as an underquilt, I don't know. I haven't got one myself. It's 600 down, so that should make it warm enough, depending on where you're camping. At 2m x 1.4 it would cover most of the hammock. The only challenge I can see would be how you would attach it to the hammock. It needs to go on the outside, as if you lay it inside the hammock and then lie on it, you squash the down and it basically becomes worthless. Sorry I can't be any more help than that :)

if it rains will the water seep down into the hammock through the straps around the trees?
@bladesepicadventures7165
@bladesepicadventures7165 2 жыл бұрын
No. The hammock connects to the straps via carabiners. The straps can get wet, but it doesn't seep down. You need to have a tarp over the hammock to stop the rain directly hitting you 😜

Great review! I can’t wait to test out my hammock and bug net duo at my camping trip this weekend. As it will be a big group of us and we will have our cars and tents in the same area, would you say it would be worth attempting to use the roof racks off two seperate cars near each other instead of trees whilst it’s stationary? Just trying to think of other options if I don’t have many trees to use. Thanks so much for reading my long message, have a lovely week.

Hi Vicky, I guess you could use roof racks between vehicles, but be sure they can take the weight. Roof racks are designed for things to sit on top, not hang or pull from the side. But I guess it depends on the type you have. Hope you have a great weekend hammocking!! 👍☺️

This hammock is only 300cm it is too short, at your height it should be at least 330cm long for a comfortable diagonal lay sleep, the company should make at least 2 size for taller person

You make a really good point. After having this hammock for probably 6 months (?), I upgraded to a larger hammock. I also paid almost 3x as much for it. Should probably do a review on that too. I did find that I struggled to get a good flat lay in my sleeping bag, as I felt I slipped down. That said, it could very much have been user error (me:)).
