Nakyal to Karjai Fort, Episode 1 | Karela Rest House Azad Kashmir | Karela-Majhan | Karjai Fort AJK
Qila Karjai/ Karjai Fort is a 16th-century fort located at 17 Km from Khuiratta Valley and 7 km from line of Control (LoC), Azad Kashmir, Pakistan. The fort was built during the reign of Mughal Emperor Jalal-ud-din Muhammad Akbar between 1556 and 1605. According to the locals, the old name of the Karjai fort is Devigarh Fort. The fort is situated on the top of hill which is approximately 4850 ft above sea level. On one side of the Karjai, Peer Badesar Mountain is located which is in Jammu, Indian occupied Kashmir.
Due to neglect of archaeology department of Azad Kashmir , the current condition of the fort is dilapidating.
In this episode you will see the area between Nakyal and Karjai which is least explored by tourists. You can also approach to this fort from Khuiratta side which is a common route to reach here.
