What a music whiz! Now I may be young, but thanks to family growing up, I know a lot of older stuff, so I can appreciate oldies as much as our new generation, in my honesty, 90 percent of the new stuff can’t hold a candle to the classics.

@@jeanneantrim I have many great memories of Tom, not in person, as I was too young to go on game shows when he hosted (born in the 70s). My first memory of him is Name That Tune, then watched him on Password Plus, The Price is Right, Body Language, Wordplay, etc. Jim Lange was not too shabby, he did great on his shows. But Tom was great at what he did, Bob Barker even gave him a shoutout on his daytime Price back when Tom hosted the nighttime show. I first heard the news of his passing Sunday from a Facebook post by Wink Martindale. He will be missed for sure, glad you got to meet him.

“For years, it’s been one of my favorite shows, and now you can see Name That Tune every day at this same time.” ...Except in Los Angeles and Atlanta, where the Jim Lange NTT aired on the weekends on KNBC and WXIA respectively.

On some aired $100,000 ''NTT'' tournaments, there are no prizes awarded, that's used for regular non- $100,000 ''NTT'' tournament shows.

The Tune Topics prize on most episodes for the 1984-85 version of Tune was a VCR. THey never mentioned the brand on air and used the same spiel to describe it.

It was an Hitachi, as a big screen TV and stereo system also by them were part of the $100,000 prize package (which should've included $50,000 in cash rather than $10,000). And nowadays, if you win $100,000, it's in ONE SINGLE PAYOUT!!!

The $90K in prizes also included a car.

Note that as the Kennedy Name that TUne $100K prize from 1976-80 was paid out $10K a year for ten years, none of the players in this 1984 reunion tourney had received more than $80K as of the time this taped.

I used to have the episodes with Carolyn Tobin vs. Marshall Burns and the semi finals with Elena, Jack and Karen. Also, Karen appeared on sale of the century in 1988.

Jeanne, since you were on both versions, which host was your favorite? Mine was Jim Lange since I grew up with this version and his infectious energy but there's no denying Tom Kennedy did a magnificent job too.
