That's what I love about the Batman Universe is that all the villains we're pretty much outcasts from society or mistreated by Society. Batman could have easily end up like the villains but unlike all of them Batman had Alfred. If they had somebody to actually take care of them and been there for them then that probably wouldn't have happen.
@vksasdgaming94724 жыл бұрын
@@Jesse12489 Nope. Many of them had suffered abuse in one form or another, but most deliberately chose to pursue criminal career. Penguin, Hush and Black Mask are very prominent examples. Some are just mentally unable or unwilling to work with society. The Riddler, Firefly, Mr. Freeze, Victor Zsasz and Poison Ivy are great examples of that. Some are just plain nasty pieces of work. Joker, Harley Quinn and Ra's Al Ghul are that group.
@Jesse124894 жыл бұрын
@@vksasdgaming9472 against Society made them that way. Victor Fries yes unable to work with Society out of fear. Poison ivy was backstabbed by a co-worker and poisoned. Harley Quinn depending on Origin but mad love will always be the go to origin for me because I had the comic book and I grew up on the Batman animated series is that she was always a bad girl and she was influenced easily. And racial Ghul do the eco-terrorists and actually isn't insane. I understand his motives. The Joker also depends on his Origins The Killing Joke is the easily most recognizable one. The penguin was mistreated as a kid for his parents true key pursued a criminal career but I like to see him as a tolerable one. In some Batman media he is a criminal that is bad but isn't so bad and can be reasoned and deal with. Only when it comes down to business.
@vksasdgaming94724 жыл бұрын
@@Jesse12489 I've grown with Arkhamverse and maybe as a result adopted much more cynical look on villains. Each and every one of them is in various degrees delusional and sociopathic. Harley Quinn is very manipulative and abusive child with knowledge of smart adult. Very dangerous combination to bystanders and Joker just gave her a excuse to go crazy. Poison Ivy is mass murderer with absolutely zero empathy towards humans and especially big hatred towards men. She does not need to use those mind-affecting toxins of her, but she does just out of spite. Ra's Al Ghul follows completely alien set of morals and in a sense cannot be judged by character. He can be judged by actions and that makes him a brutal terrorist. They may have their excuses of choosing their path, but every crook chose to follow it. Maybe out of grudge or insanity. Killer Croc was born with deformities and they just got worse. Firefly always was a pyromaniac, but it eventually got too strong. Victor Zsasz is borderline-retarded.

In that origin, it’s revealed she only got her PhD by giving sexual favours to all her teachers in college, and her intention was to become rich and famous by analysing “crazy” people like the criminals at Arkham, and obviously one of the prime candidates for that would be the Joker. So in a cruel sense of irony, she was the one who got manipulated, when really that was her intention.

Either Harley just sucks at her job as psychiatrist or she just out of her head. The scariest thing about Victor Zsasz is how realistic someone like him could exist. He isn't some psycho mastermind, or a super villian with a power gimmick like the Joker, Riddler or Mr. Freeze. Similarly to say Michael Myers, he's just a pure evil monster, who regards no life and only sees people as his victims.

Victor Zsasz is one of the few characters that relate with the modern world and are very underrated within DC comics. He’s only represented as a cold-blooded killer using phones as his trail but his ideology is much more interesting and that’s what Dr. Gretchen attempted to dig into. When she said Victor ‘needed’ to kill, it’s pretty disturbing because he’s actually in-pain so he has to subtle his pain by murdering others.

Personally, the Scarecow tapes are an example of why i think Scarecow is one of my favorite Batman villains. Right mix between zany, weird, creepy, and his crimes really do sound like something an awful person would do in real life (mostly without drugs). If Scarecow was doing his "research" during the 50s onwards and working for the CIA he probably wouldn't have even been considered a villain.

I absolutely love games that have these extra pieces for fun. One thing I think is interesting is that I find these clips more memorable than the ones from say the BioShock series, with a some exceptions. I think it’s because with these clips, you can actually stop and listen to them, while with Bioshock, you’re playing the game while they’re playing, so there’s less of a chance that you’re actively paying attention to what’s being said. Also, the characters in the Arkham series have more distinctive voices than those from Bioshock. Just a random thought.

After playing Arkham asylum, it really hammers home just how far gone these people are and it makes you wonder why they’re allowed to live, the later games hammers this even more, joker never changed and even dying he was laughing at Batman’s pain, then Scarecrow became the big bad guy and ended up exposing Batman to the entire killed the mythos he built, really the only ones who ended up helping Batman was Poison Ivy and Mr Freeze but then again even if they’re horrible they were one of the very few that still held love in their hearts (Ivy for Nature and Freeze for his wife), everyone else is just completely beyond help though

And the guards? How does a lunatic who has special measures assigned by the WARDEN HIMSELF because he is so dangerous get access to a knife? How does a young lady psychiatrist smuggle a freaking rocket launcher inside the grounds of the prison, why did NOBODY check the interview tapes or oversee the INTERN psychiatrist that is interviewing the biggest madman Gotham has ever faced. No wonder everyone escapes.
@beholdthegriffin23465 жыл бұрын
Something I've noticed with the Joker and Riddler, who are the more sane-ish of Arkham criminals: They want to expose Batman. Killer Croc and Zsaz most likely are full-blown psychotics, with Zsaz having some sociopathic mixed in with Poison Ivy, who doesn't care about people at all. But Joker? Sure, he's nuts, but it takes long-term thought processes and planning to pull of as many crimes and escapes, so he's not all gone there. And Riddler? He's capable of reason and deductive logic. Compare that to Zsaz whispering "Cutting and cutting and cutting and cutting and cutting," as he slices up the guard, and they seem damn near docile. And maybe the Joker has a point: Bruce Wayne has been through a lot. He probably has some PTSD and compartmentalized trauma. The Riddler was off, but Batman does get away with a lot: breaking and entering, assault, arson, you name it. Oh God. Did i just make a case for the Joker?
