Is the green fairy a Chekov’s Gun? Or is it a new and media specific literary device? Oda presents ideas that are presented and eventually used, but I feel like it’s different than a “Chekov’s Gun” in this media (manga) because he teases the use of something and then presents its use almost rarely in the story arc it is presented.

Nami is the best example of Good writing. She's not mary-sue. Not damsel-in-distress that she pretends to be. Has flaws and strengths. Her backstory adds to her character but doesn't hold her back from character development. She is sexy without being sexualized or demoralized. She owns it & uses it. It's even ironic that in Wano she is the Female ninja while Robin is the courtesan; I'm sure if they switched roles they would've gotten the job done just as well.

The fact that it is so easy to create a good female character without making her a superman or a caricature and how many [male] writers fail to do it is insane. I'm a man and I write here and there and I do have trouble to write a female character in a sense that I naturally imagine a male most of the time but I never struggled to write one when she has a preponderant role. I feel like Rodo is more of a caricature of weirdos weebs tbh. what with the way he speaks & how calls Nami Oshi & in the unofficial translation they kept the Japanese suffix of "Taso" which apparently is a way to refer to beloved anime/manga characters so Rodo is less Oda & more a slignt against weebs me thinks. If he was supposed to be Oda I don't think Rodo would've came off as creepy & would've been more humorous.

I loveee that the Elbaf (reversed "fable") arc has started with a giant creating a world to fabricate his own stories. It also depicts his character as a sort of foil to Usopp's, as he's a darker sort of storyteller because he's trying to force his lies to be reality for his own sake instead of others' (in contrast, Usopp started lying/storytelling as a way to cheer up Kaya and his mom). We have a self-appointed "Sun God" versus "God Usopp" (a title assigned by others in Dressrosa). It's very poetic and it makes me excited to see where Oda takes Usopp's character this arc.

I fell like Road/Rodo is our appetizer to what will be the main conflict of the arc. Rodo's obviously not a threat, but I can see another more dangerous giant with the same ideology coming in to assert the giant's race superiority over humans, just like in Fishman Island. I also really, really want Big Mom to come back in the story so we can address the whole Lola-Loki situation.

based on urouge's Mad Monk epithet, i have high hopes that luffy's opponents in elbaf will be big mom and kaido being controlled by urouge as the mad monk from the movie the mad monk (1993) comes down from heaven (sky island) and is charged with changing the nature of three people: a beggar, a prostitute and a villain. in broad terms, i think kaido and big mom could fit any of the three, and we need urouge to be introduced soon.

Nami was my favorite character after Arlong Park, got bumped to 2nd favorite since "Nothing Happened," and has held that spot ever since then. I think she's cemented there ever since WCI when she got Zeus (does anyone have a stronger/larger attack aside from Luffy at this point?) Any love shown towards Nami is a great chapter! It is only a shame that HxH has taken a lot of my attention because it has been heavily required to follow along each chapter.

I sincerely hope that this is a hint of good things to come in Elbaf. The weak trio has been in desperate need of a power-up and if what Nami does here is anything to go off of, maybe that’s true. And at the very least, perhaps this arc will serve to showcase how well they can support Luffy. Lord knows Chopper needs some time to shine. I know people are a bit upset that Franky didn’t get the chance to grow in Egghead but I actually think he was one of the more prominent Straw Hats in the arc. Great support from him there. Oh yeah, and if Usopp doesn’t power up and reach his full potential, I will tear my own head off.

SO, I think Road's little rant about themes, will, stories and his Livedolls is more important than we think right now. I think Road was introduced in this way to give us a microcosm of Imu-Sama. I believe that this rant sums up not only Road's view of his 'sacred temple' but also Imu-Sama's view of the world and people as a whole. Road is physically bigger than his Livedolls and more powerful. There is nothing most of them can do to resist him. But, the minute Luffy (Nika) shows up, the illusion is torn down and the people themselves realize its time to run. I think this entire chapter is essentially the end of the story in LEGO (TM) form.

Tbh, one thing I don't see people talk about enough is how in chapter 1128, when Luffy goes into Gear 5, you can see the horns from the helmet sticking out from his haisualong with the colors of his outfit supposedly change but they're still there. Like.. Luffy didn't suddenly change into his normal clothes in Gear 5, but instead, we get to see Gear 5 in the same Elbaph attire just with the difference in color

Rodo seems like a perfect antagonist for Usopp. Story teller vs. Story teller, battle. I am imagining that it's going to be similar to Perona where Rodo's reality power seems OP and the crew are going to be helpless against him. But Usopp will be able to combat his reality shifting power with his own story telling abilities. Where Usopp is going to make Rodo belive his stories which will in turn make Usopp powerful.

Nami is low key one of the strongest characters in the series. Never forget that when she first did an attack with Zeus the Big Mom pirates thought it was Mama's attack. You remembered wrong. They're not a couple days away from Elbaf. The narraror said it's been 2 days since they left Egghead. Considering that it took Dorry and Brogy 1 day to get to Egghead, they already should've arrived. We already saw that they've entered Elbaf's climate area because of the giant sea creatures.

tbh I was more hyped for this section when we assumed the bits weren't art errors 2 (? was it 2 or 3?) chapters ago and thought there was more of a mystery a foot. After learning that everything was just an art error and that was just how the events were playing out (even though it was great to learn Tekking called Roddo was the sun god a week before the chapter came out) I kinda lost interest with the lego town. I don't get the plot point of the Green fairy, if they actually just went unconscious because of a mist? And why did the giants not know about the mist?

Ussop will always be behind the rest of the straw hats fighting-wise. Oda has said this explicitly. He might get stronger this arc, but if anything the thing that's likely to develop is his *character* , not his fighting skills.

Given we had an earlier chapter called RPG, Rodo to me feels like a GM (game master) for a tabletop RPG. In tabletop RPGs, the GM sort of guides the story, but the PCs (player characters) get to decide their actions, and therefore they shape the story as well. As a GM it can be exciting to see the story "unfold on its own" due to the players' actions, perhaps completely veering away from how you expected the story to go. There's also Rodo's love of the world he has created, and the care put into it, that is reminiscent of a GM preparing a setting and worldbuilding elements. Rodo appointing himself as a god could also be a nod to the overly controlling or narcissistic GMs out there, which is perhaps a stereotype of GMs in general.

Road seems like a bored aristocrat with slughorn (from Harry Potter) syndrome, I wonder if there’s anyone else notable there, wherever “there” happens to be. I think they might be on another deck of the ship, maybe “road” is allegorical and is maybe the navigator? Maybe the only one immune to the mists? Maybe Told the crew the straw hats are still sleeping below deck and kidnapped them? They’re probably pretty close to Elbaf, but not technically there yet.

I find this whole idea so many people have of multiple rooms to be odd. I don’t know why anyone would want that or how anyone could think Oda would do that. 1 more chapter inside this room before they find out what it is would’ve been good. It felt a bit rushed. But going room to room freeing people with different themes? Didn’t make sense. And something no one is talking about is that the main villain of the arc will appear before the crew with the giant pirates. Thats how Oda does it. Luffy is separated from the crew so that he doesn’t take down the villain too fast.

Fate and concepts of Gods have always been motifs that were slowly fed to us, but the giants (arguably one of our first introductions to religion in one piece) have a strict religious code. I think Giants have an obsession with fate and connect it to religion because they have the most knowledge of Nika; though, it is skewed due to the void century. I predict we are gonna have an intricate dissection of religion in society more intricate than Skypiea.
