Namibia - the Etosha National Park - in summer. The Etosha National Park is located in the north of Namibia - its eponymous specialty is the Etosha Pan, a salt flat with an area of almost five thousand square kilometers. The word 'Etosha' comes from the Ovambo language and means something like 'large white space' and in fact it clearly stands out on satellite images in an otherwise green / brown-red landscape.
We visited the park in the Namibian summer (end of February) and, in contrast to our first visit, found a different landscape. The Etosha pan was partly filled with water - also due to the intense rainfalls in January - and the landscape had different shades of green. While this looked wonderful, it meant that animal sightings were limited because there was enough water everywhere.
For the first visit and the experience of one of the numerous water holes, animals of all kinds, from giraffes to different antelopes to zebras and even elephants at once - we recommend a visit in the Namibian winter (May/June until September/October). You can find impressions in our Namibia / Botswana video: • Namibia, Botswana Camp...
