Great video! really enjoyed watching your adventure. Would you be able to share your itinerary for this trip? We are planning similar trip but little shorter. Thank you
@lostintravel_at6 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much. :-) Our tour was as follows: We started in Windhoek - of course ;-) - and went directly to Sesriem (2 nights), continued to Swakopmund (2 nights) and Spitzkoppe, Erindi Private Game Reserve, Vingerklip, Grootbergpass (Hoada Campsite), Otjitotongwe Cheetah farm, Etosha (3 nights in different camps), Caprivi strip (3 nights on the way through), Victoria falls (2 nights), then back to Chobe (2 nights), Savuti, Moremi and back to Windhoek. We stayed mostly for 1 night except where otherwise noted. If you have some more questions don't hesitate to ask. :-)

Thank you so much for the info. Did you stay at the cheetah farm or just visited for day? Is it worth visiting?
@lostintravel_at6 жыл бұрын
yes, we stayed at the campsite for 1 night (the campsite is nice, we were there alone and there is a pool). If you like cheetahs I think it's worth a visit. And we prefered this cheetah farm a lot e.g. compared to the Harnas Wildlife farm. But you won't see much more then you see in the video ... so you start with ~30-40 min close up session where you can touch 2 cheetahs and take a lot of close up pictures. Afterwards the tour continues with the feeding tour where the remaining cheetahs are fed (while you are standing on a vehicle) ... you also see this cheetah feeding in the video. We enjoyed it a lot. :-)

@@lostintravel_at Thank you for this great video and sharing your itinerary. We are planning to go this Sep/Oct 2019. Could I ask, did you drive in Zimbabwe, Zambia and Botswana with the same car you hired in Namibia? Or did you return the car and hire again from those countries? If you had the same car the whole journey was it easy to drive to neighbouring countries or did you need to obtain a permit? Also what is the best way to book campsites in advance? Is there a website that you could share? Or did you go through travel agencies? Sorry a lot of questions! Thank you in advance :-)

I am so glad to watch a wonderful video. Thank you so much for entertaining us. I would like to visit there. Can you share some information how was the cost?
@lostintravel_at5 жыл бұрын
Yes of course. If you want to do a camping trip you can expect around 100 Euro per day for the camper car, 30 Euro per night and campsite in Namibia in or outside the parks, for Botwana a night inside a park will be much higher around 100 Euro per night. A lodge will cost you everything between 150 Euro and several hundred euros per night. We spent about 25 Euro fuel per day and the 35 Euro for food with a mix of selfmade bbq and restaurants. And then there are the admissions and activities you want to do - we spent about 50 Euros per day for that (the helicopter flight and the border fees especially for Simbabwe were the biggest issues for us here).

Super job. We are at planning Stage for a Nairobi to CPT Overland. Keen to incl Moremi, Savuti & Caprivi Strip, but where did you Camp. We will be driving a Land Cruiser with Sleeping Tent on roof. Thnx.
@lostintravel_at3 жыл бұрын
Thanks. It was our first video so be a bit patient. ;-) If you like check out our newer stuff. About Moremi and Co: Unfortunately we were a little late with our bookings (didn't know then that some campsite are already completely booked about 1 year before), but now with Covid this maybe is better. We stayed at the Rupara Rest Camp which was a great location but didn't see many wildlife there. After that we were at the Zambezi Mubala Campsite which was great too - directly at the Zambezi. After that we wanted to camp inside Chobe but didn't get any spot so we went for Senyati Campsite which had a small waterhole where we saw some elephants. After that we stayed at Mwandi View Campsite (again because Chobe was full) - this one had a fine restaurant and the campsite was completely on gras which was nice. Next stop was the Khwai campsite which was the only one available in Moremi. You should check out the sklcamps site to find more spots. Because Khwai is on the edge of Moremi we didn't got to deep inside Moremi but would highly recommend it - with a Land Cruiser it should be fine. Have a great one - we would be very exited to follow your trip. Cu

Amazing video! How would you compare all the parks you went to? Are some similar and therefore I could skip them or are they all very distinct and I should absolutely go to each one of them?
@lostintravel_at9 ай бұрын
If you refer to Etosha and Chobe (Riverfront): They are very unique and completely different. Moremi is - depending on the season - very unique too and you maybe have to cross the water several time. In our option you could skip the Savuti region of Chobe (we went through anyway to get from the Riverfront to Moremi).

@lostintravel_at2 жыл бұрын
Yes of course! We rented from Avis Safari cars - the car and the equipment was great and we where very happy about that - there was only a problem with the security bond - we got it back very late after several emails. On our second trip to Namibia - if you like you can check out the videos from this trip too - we rented from Africa on Wheels - there everything went very smooth - the car was very good too, only the equipment was not so great compared to Avis Safari - so we are not sure which one we would use again, probably give Avis Safari another shot. Anyway have a great trip. :-)

What a trip!! I'm looking to do the same with my wife, what was you budget range for this trip?
@lostintravel_at3 жыл бұрын
It was really an amazing trip and we can most certainly recommend it. Regarding budget it's quite hard to say as it depends a lot on your preferred travel style. But we looked at our costs and can provide following guide values what we paid in May/June 2018 (note this also depends on the season and the fx rate): AWD-Car with rooftop tent around 100 Euros per day Campsite in Namibia around 30 Euros per night Campsite in Botswana around 80 Euros per night Lodge in Namibia around 200 Euros per night Visa (for 2 persons) + insurance (and all charges which apply) for the car in regards to the border crossing to Botswana, Zimbabwe by car + only walking to Zambia: 220 Euros Game drives and other activities you choose to do: around 50-100 Euros for 2 persons Hope this helps planning your trip. Greetings from Vienna!

Great video! Seems like you've seen quite a lot of wildlife. May I ask you what your budget was? Planning to do a similar trip sometime this year.:)

Thanks a lot! Really appreciate! :-) You can do such a trip on various budget levels, but to be clear from the beginning Africa (at least the countries we visited so far) is not a cheap continent for travelling. It depends a lot on your personal requirements and where you want to go (if you want to go e.g. to Dead vlei by yourself or Botswana where you need AWD) ... if you want to stay in lodges (inside parks) or prefer camping and of course on the length of your trip. Generally speaking camping in Nationalparks in Botswana is more expensive compared to Namibia. Also the trip to the Victoria falls was quite expensive (Visa, charges for the car, ...). Just to mention it was our second most expensive trip, the most expensive one was Uganda. ;-)
