Firstly, thanks to the beautiful people of Namibia. Their humility and humble lifestyle were priceless, and we look forward to seeing you again.
This video compares the basics between Lagos (our home city) and Windhoek. Namibia is a former apartheid country with about 7% European descendants. Even though the country has a very small population, it is right behind its sister country, South Africa, as the wealth inequality capital in the world. The 7% Europeans control most of the economy, while poverty amongst the blacks is very high.
Lagos, on the other hand, is a completely mismanaged city with failing infrastructure, a lack of discipline, and corrupt institutions. Almost nothing in Lagos does what it says on paper. How humans managed to reach such a level of disorder is unfathomable.

Im a Namibian who has been following Nigeria's socio-political affairs. The fact that Nigeria has the biggest economy in Africa and some Nigerians are the most entreprenuership people in Africa is a testament to how great Nigeria and Nigerians are. However, the biggest stumbling block to Nigeria's success is Nigerians themselves. Nigeria has one of the worst form of Bigotry and tribalism in Africa. Everythng in that country is dictated by tribe and religion. In Lagos Igbo markets and properties were demolished not long ago because they are in Yorubaland, Boko Haram suspects who were terrorising farmers are released as repetent terrorists because the President is also a Fulani, the incumbent Governor of Kano demolished every infrastructure built by his predecessor in Kano. Corruption is a norm. Appointment is mainly on the basis of religion and tribe not qualifications. Unfortunately Nigeria will remain stuck in the past, if they continue like this.

Properties were demolished because they were built on non-approved lands and blocking the city's drainage; causing flooding year after year. Would you like flood with sewage water in your own sitting room, kitchen and bedroom once in a while? There are people from multiple backgrounds who own these properties, not just Igbos. No home that has authorisation to be built was demolished and many homes have been demolished in neighbourhoods where there are hardly any Igbos. But if your source is victim-mentality IPOBians (a very small section of Igbos who like to create fake divisiveness to create real divisiveness and justify their succession agendas), then it would appear as if there are Igbo neighbourhoods in Lagos where people are going there to destroy their homes. Someone building structures without local authorities' planning permission, because they think "This is lawless Nigeria na" and "God will protect me", and having it demolished and then wailing "it is because of my tribe" is just ridiculous. If any of them had the right documentations and planning permits, why are they not going to court and rightfully claiming compensation? Mate, don't fall for such. As for markets, most of this markets are filthy, unsafe, unstructured and hindrance settlements that reflect the substandard developments typically associated with black developments. They need to go especially from nice urban areas. I suggest you go look at Wall Street and Canary Wharf environs (both financial districts) and go compare them to Nigeria's Marina financial district environs. We are a disgrace to the Black race. Our district is a filthy, unstructured, backward and disgraceful financial district. Imagine a financial district without a single, I repeat A SINGLE, upmarket restaurant, mall or entertainment in the whole environs of over 1 square miles. What you have is smelly, ugly and crowded markets in the heart of and all around it, next to the highest paid bankers and financial executives, and where you can be robbed in the evenings. Areas like Ikoyi, VI, Ikeja, Lagos Island, Lekki Phase 1, Lekki Phase 2, Ajah, Maryland/Mende *NEED* to be turned to developed, clean, lovely and nice urban settlements like you see in any well-ran Middle-income developing nation. It should be a NON-NEGOTIABLE action plan; anyone objecting should be bulldozed out of the way! There should not be any shitholes, unstructured environs in their vicinity. Preferably add Magodo/Shangisha, Yaba, Ilupeju, Surulere and Gbagada to the mix; but those have so much small pockets of ghettoes within them that it would be virtually financially impossible to do these in the next 30 years with the limited resources Lagos has. Ghetto markets can move to the outskirts where tourists and visitors are less likely to encounter them; and we also need to get rid of road-side selling, where any random person can just decide to set up a bench, wheel barrow and/or Umbrella shade on any part of major roads and start selling whatever they like. When tourists money start streaming in due to Afrobeats & Nollywood, the development can expand to the other areas and outskirts. As for Fulani herdsmen (which you mistakenly labelled as Boko Haram), there are two reasons this festers. One, how do you catch criminals who have no residence and live in bushes in a vast under-developed country? Without infrastructure or advanced surveillance & tracking tools? And even if you decide to budget for these tools, over 60% of the budgeted money would be looted and the looters supposed to stop it would do a halfazz job so you can keep budgeting more year after year for them to loot more? Trust me, that is why the Nigerian army has refused to beat Boko Haram or stop herdsmen. It is because their senior military leaders are seeing it as avenue to loot when we make orders for foreign weapons, technology and tools which they can arrange with American manufacturers/sellers to inflate the costs, sell second hand for the price of brand new and take bribes. Two, when you hear about community/tribal clashes in Nigeria, do not see it from the prism of Villians vs Victims. Trust me, each side is both. It is usually a case of these communities have a bunch of f0o0ls amongst them that have stoked up hatred with their utterances, bullying, violation of others rights and threats to each other without their leaders stopping them because their leaders have low IQ and see them as "our own". After they have stoked it up for years/months and it catches fire with killings, they start claiming victim and blaming the "others" and "government". They would not tell you how it all started and about how many they too killed. Lesson: people kill Fulanis and Fulanis kill them too. Fulani herdsmen are just better at it because they are an "uneducated, low human development, extremely vengeful, proud of revenges and warrior status, low valuers of life (as theirs is frequently worthless) and a no-place-of-abode" population. If you are from a population with high infant mortality and low life expectancy people (where people die in their 30s and 40s), where you have had several of your children and relatives die young, and you have no self-development to aspire for some wealthy or inspiring future (next qualification/job or sending kids to good schools), you just live an archaic daily life everyday, death would not be a big deal to you and you will be more willing to take a life easily.

Well the boko haram are not Fulani by ethnicity, they are Kanuri! So the Fulani president can't be said to have been tribalistic! boko haram in its essence are insurgents with an islamised agenda! By far more have been eliminated than imprisoned or free! A lot of the ones set free are often younger men who might have been indoctrinated due to them being callow and readily impressionable! As for the Igbo, a lot of them have been born and raised in Lagos and are not treated any differently, but the newcomers from the southeast tend to congregate and bunch together in other locations, until it becomes an issue! Info. 1. The people who were selling handicraft to you at that restaurant are not Namibians but Angolans. Those ones are not Himbas. 2. Yr misinformation about Namibians not speaking their mother tongue is largely false. In general, Namibians are multi lingual. Afrikaans and English are used as lingua franca to communicate with different tribes. Just like a Yoruba communicates with Igbo in English or is English a Nigerian indeginous language? English has same status as Afrikaans on the street. 3. It's misleading to say people respect white people. Namibians respect each other. Moreso, Namibia has a high middle income segment. The place you went to is for the poorest who often never went to school at all not even secondary. Namibians who went to school dnt live in Katutura. They live West or South of CBD. Infact there are lots of blacks in all middle and wealthy surburbs of Windhoek. Shacks are caused by Rural - urban migration especially of uneducated people who have no necessary skill. They flock to Windhoek as capital city and of course they must get a place to sleep while job hunting. .

0:16 the San (Bushman) people are not the only light-skinned ethnic groups in Namibia. Also there are about 6 different San ethnic groups each speaking their own languages scattered around Namibia. There aren't that many in Windhoek though, so I doubt you've met one. The other light-skinned ethnic group is the Nama group. They make up about 5% of the population. Then there's coloureds, these are people of mixed ancestry. The mixing happened about 300 -400 hundred years ago, then there are Basters, also mixed ancestry however they separated themselves and organized themselves as an ethnic group more than 200 years ago and settled in a place called Rehoboth, just 90 km from Windhoek. There are also Batswana that are light-skinned.

4:09 Afrikaans is not a white language. It is a creole that mixed race people created. It was already spoken in Namibia since the end of the 18th century before whites even set foot here. Evdn when the we became a German colony, the Germans struggled to introduce the German language in schools because Cape Dutch or Afrikaans is what was taught in schools by the missionaries. By the mid 1800s it was the lingua franca in central Namibia.

Lot of Chinese? There are few Chinese or Asians in Namibia. Last stats from home affairs last year was showing 2,500 Chinese, almost 2, 000 were imported by Chinese construction companies on work permit. Most Chinese businesses closed down and relocated to Angola. Very few Chinese in Namibia.

Namibia of yesterday i mean before independence in 1990 is a farcry from Namibia of today.We had developed within those 34 years better tham many African countries who got independence in the sixties. Most of our infrastructure one sees were developed as from 1990 downwards. So i dont think one nerd to compare Namibia to Nigeria infact Nigeria supposed to be a powerhouse of this continent? However it is not to be there are two many problems and challenges in Nigeria to start with.Today their citizens are scattered all over the world, not because they want to but because of problems at home.Yes we too have our own challenges too, but think we are managing them better.Here we don't gight religious or tribal wars nor problems of gangstrism and so on.

4:16 which most of the economy do they control? Some of the biggest contributors to our GDP are mining and fishing. Fishing is dominated by blacks. Mining by foreign companies as well as blacks. There are more black Namibians involved in mining than white Namibians. As for the other industries, those white Namibians are dominated by their South African cousins. Most of the food we eat is produced in South Africa. The retail shops are South African, the Banks and Insurance companies are also South African. Those industries that I mentioned are the largest in the country.

namibia is extremely sparse. the population concentrated around windhoek. the rest are far flung villages and desert. imagine a country larger than nigeria with only 2 million people. there arent many population center. maybe a few towns on the coast as well

Afrikaans isnt spoken by all Namibians.. only tbose in big towns who are taught Afrikaans as a second language can speak Afrikaans, and every Namibian can speak their native language and all our native languages are taught in schools compulsory on primary and junior secondary but one can choose to do it on Senior secondary level

Also why is income inequality only talked about when it comes to Namibia and South Africa? Other African countries with low income inequality does not mean everyone is well-off, it could mean they're all equally poor. The extreme poverty rate in Namibia is around 18% down from 70% before independence in 1990. Plus average salaries are high in Namibia than in a lot of African countries. A public school teacher in Namibia can afford a brand new car.

Afrikaans might derive from dutch but not made by them the language also have malay words, it was created by cape malay Asians and some of the black and coloured people or brown people so that the white men don't understand us, the white dutch just later made it their own and developed it further.

A part of these non-Bushman ethnicities that go around naked are nomads who migrated from southern Angola to Namibia due to the climatic conditions and the lack of large cities in southern Angola where they sell their products. I went to Lagos and Abuja several times, hmm, very loud, fielthy, the slums are even more poorer than in Katutura, everyone is trying to steal from you. The moment they see that you're not Nigerian, they call you names. Very tribe orientated. The food is tasteless. But I still do enjoy my Fela Kuti afrobeat. Please don't say anymore that the namibians are just drinking and partying. We won't get into details what nigeria is know for in the world. But great camera work, editing and sound balance in your movie.

Wish you visited the entire country instead of making conclusions based on your visit in the Windhoek town alone. There's a reason those names are left the way they are. I believe its best if Black Americans take care of things at home in the US first, make it better for your grandchildren. E.g work hard to make America more inclusive, less racist ect. Namibia , Namibia......I remember driving into Windhoek from Botswana, I felt humiliated as a black man to see that the whites are in charge of an African country. I felt safe, made some friends as Namibians are very friendly people. I visited Windhoek glein and also the slum 5 miles outside the capital. You measure a country on gdp per Capita. The higher the gdp per Capita, the more the state has resources to render public goods and look after its people. That is a key yardstick. A Lower per Capita means less resources for the state. Lower per Capita means poverty is accross the board. Countries with high per Capita in africa are Mauritius, Seychelles, SA, Botswana, Gabon, Namibia, Morocco, Algeria and Equatorial Guinea. In Namibia, every person over 60 yrs gets social Grant of 85 usd per month. Orphans, vulnerable children and disabled persons too get monthly payment. The poverty I experience in Namibia is related to education according to me. It seems to me 8/10 poor persons in Namibia dnt have any formal education at all. That's my experience. Besides, Namibia is on course to be the wealthiest country in Africa in next 7 yrs. Watch the space. There shall be no reason for poverty in this country. It's a mineral rich country from Uranium 'gold, Diamonds etc and too rich in oil and gas. Lots of Green Hydrogen investments initialing 10 billion usd as we speak. More and more oil discoveries offshore Namibia in just 2 yrs of drilling equalling 21 billion barrels from just 7 Wells drilled and appraised. As we speak Namibia which just began oil drilling already has more reserves than Algeria and Angola. Drilling by multinational companies continues as we speak. Am convinced that by end of next year, Namibia oil reserves would have exceeded that of Nigeria's 37 billion barrels of reserves. Namibia and Guyana are the most emerging hotpots today. We see alot of investments flowing into Namibia in all sectors from hospitality establishment, mining, manufacturing, service industry, logistics and aquaculture. A US company is investing 2 billion usd on our coast on aquaculture. A nowergian company is investing 25 billion rand on Salmon aquaculture at West Coast. List is long. Investors flock where there is new hope and I can tell you now that Namibia no longer need to travel to attract investors coz investors are flying into Namibia all time. Our oil discoveries are commercial and estimates are that Namibia will able to produce minimum of 1.1-1.3 million barrels by 2030/2031 based on volume of recent discoveries. Production is expected to commence in 2028.Mind you there are 3 companies Shell, Total and Galp that made separate discoveries and are all aiming to start production around same time. Investment decisions will be made next year. On another note, u will never find a namibian looking for life or working in an African country coz our salaries are higher and only 2nd or 3rd to SA and Mauritius. Same with Botswana. U will never find a motswana working elsewhere unless maybe in SA. Any Namibian that was born before 21 March 1990 qualifies for South african citizenship but we see no need of such citizenship. No matter those who suffer, they know there is light at end of tunnel. We dnt want to go trouble other countries and similarly dnt want our country to be troubled.

3:52 false. In fact most black Namibians do not partake in white people activities. That's why even our rugby and cricket teams are mostly white. You'll be questioned by other blacks if you start playing those sports. We don't aspire to be white. Also Afrikaans was the official language before 1990 so naturally if two people from different ethnic groups marry they would speak Afrikaans and their children as well. Same as in Nigeria where some people speak English as their first language.
