Nami, you always treat yourself like you are someone special, and you are. That isn't something I was raised to do, but I'm learning, and watching you helps. You seem to make every project, every meal, a special occasion for yourself, and I admire that. Is that something that you were raised with, raised to do? Or is it something that you learned once you were on your own? Or is it cultural...to make every moment special? I don't know if it's an American thing, or just a my-family thing, but self-care (good) was considered selfish (bad). I learn better every day.

I'm with you. I think there is something about the Puritan roots in the US which has dictated some sort of constant self sacrificing, especially on the home front. Always putting one's self last. Not that it's an inherently bad thing, but societal attitudes, especially toward women, tend to come with a lot of judgment if you're looking out for yourself and engaging in self care. I don't know, maybe that's becoming more of a thing of the past, but it's certainly how I was raised and I still hear my elderly parents criticizing women in my family for same.

it's the same in asia - putting yourself first is considered wrong', but people are waking up to another reality where it is OK to be nice to yourself - hope this answers.

Я живу в Укн. У нас тоже принято заботиться сначала о близких,потом о себе. А как же,если маленькие дети,или пожилые родители,или инвалиды в семье? Если ты один тогда можно позволить себе многое.
The way you took the herbs 🌿 off the stems using the colander was a great idea!

What I particularly like about your videos is that they look so harmonious and aesthetic. You are doing such a great job ❤ Nevertheless, you also show excerpts that are not "perfect" (something spilled, something slips away) and that makes you so likeable and human. Thanks for that, keep going! ☺️

I had no idea I needed a lovely lady to show her life in Japan. This granny loves her family but I can see this being a satisfying life.
My Saturday evening routine: eating my favourite dishes while watching Nami on my phone eating her favourite dishes while watching a show on her phone 🥰😘💕❤

I still admire the way you collect furniture and arrange the space around you. Besides, you have a huge number of books on cooking, I would like to have so many recipes a step away from myself. Your yukata is a very nice color and looked thin for summer, although this is unlikely to save you from the summer heat. I'm glad you're having so much fun this weekend. Thank you for taking the time for the channel and your subscribers.

Using the strainer for de-leafing the herbs was smart! New cabinet really works! You need a soft and pretty chair for your dinning table.

Such a passion, the culture, the beauty in the heart. The Japanese just do everything right. Sometimes I feel that I was born in the wrong country. Much respect. Thank you for the video.

I look at all the clothing our women ancestors wore no matter what part of the world we come from, and I marvel at how they made a home, kept a home, raised children, grew large gardens, walked many miles and cared for small livestock in that clothing! For me, as an American, the women wore multiple layers of skirts, pataloons and much of the time long sleeves. I can't imagine doing that in the heat of summer! You looked lovely though. God Bless 🥰
You are lucky you stay so slim as you never stop eating 😂😂 you have one huge appetite and every snack and meal is spent cooking. Lots of motivation. 🎉❤

Hola Nami!!
Your organizational skills amazes me and inspired me to deal with my kitchen too. I adore your videos. Always get myself a cup of coffee and chill out watching them. I envy some of the clever things you have. Like the charcol lining for fridges and the make your own teabags with loose tea. We dont have that here where I live in Norway.
You don't have to wrap corn in plastic. keep the husk on. Microwave high for 4 minutes. When you can handle them cut the stem end off and squeeze the corn out like toothpaste. the husk and silk will come right off and it will be cooked perfectly.

Hi Nami, I've been a subscriber for about two years now. However, I've never commented; until now. I enjoy watching your KZbin channel; on Saturday mornings each week. You're a great cook and organizer of your apartment. I've learned a few great tips from you, along the way. For instance, how to revive a wilted hydrangea bloom and how to make "street corn;" as it is called in the United States. Thank you for sharing interesting content each week. Peace and Blessings from America
