Wow Arthur that was a awesome video ! Quite professional! I made a dump of my pictures and videos on my channel 4 videos , 2 Hours each to capture everything. Love how yours was 8 minutes and Perfect Narration. Thanks for ending it with my first synth ARP ODYSSEY, and getting Jordan Rudess in there. Can’t want to go back , this was my first NAMM. Rock on 🤘

I wonder if you combine Logic Pro with a f.I Roland stagepiano in order to create a incredible sound and possibilities ?
@azurehillsmusic Жыл бұрын
I am a big fan of Logic Pro and use it constantly. I do avoid taking the computer out on gigs though so my personal preference is for a keyboard that is incredible on its own. Thanks for watching!

Thanks for the inside scoop. Haven’t seen too many other YTrs concentrate on keys. Is NAMM open to the general public?
@azurehillsmusic Жыл бұрын
NAMM is not open to the general public so I usually have gotten in via an industry connection. For this last show, I was able to get in with my own qualifications and it seemed to be the easiest year to get a ticket that I’ve experienced. I’m hoping to do a deeper dive on keys at NAMM at the next show. Thanks for watching!

Was there Yamaha genos 2
@azurehillsmusic Жыл бұрын
Didn't see it if there was one there. I found the Yamaha room perhaps the most chaotic space as they had live entertainment going on while I was there so I couldn't here anything from the couple of instruments I tried.

@@azurehillsmusic Yeah I felt they should not have the BAns Play while we're testing out the GEAR even thought the had Head Phones ...but that KEYs not Guitars?
@furiobisotti8150 Жыл бұрын
Just a question. Did you try the GT version of Numa X Piano? It's a new Fatar keybed with weighted keys. When I tested it in a local shop here in Italy I was really impressed. Sadly here it's too early to try Stage4 so I had no chance. They say we will have to wait weeks, maybe months...
@azurehillsmusic Жыл бұрын
If the GT version was displayed at NAMM, I missed it. I put on my hands on several of the companies keyboards, but each that I tried was of the lightweight variety. Thanks for stopping by to watch.
@furiobisotti8150 Жыл бұрын
@@azurehillsmusic I agree with you. Normal version is not anything I would suggest
@samnixon6198 Жыл бұрын
Also, your comment that the Numa X action was too light. FYI, the new Stage 4 and the Numa X 88 (not the GT) both utilize the Fatar TP/110 keybed.

Yamaha CK-88??
@azurehillsmusic Жыл бұрын
I really wanted to try out several of the Yamaha keyboards but during my time in their display room, the entertainment was so loud, I couldn't hear anything through the headphones when I tried a few of the Yamaha keyboards. The CK88 does seem intriguing - I like the form factor a lot. Keeping my eyes open for Los Angeles area music stores that might have one I can try.

It was strange not to see ROLAND Booth this year ( nothing new since FANTOM's 6,7,8 * JUPITER X but they did make the more affordable FANTOMS O6,O7 & O8 ... They were selling those already I suppose before NAMM ? Smaller Show since COVID-19 plus now open to PUBLIC is what i saw? they use to give us discount off our BADGE if you purchase early, Not for me this time?

man, i'm a dinosaur. still playing my rig from '94. roland A-50 or A-37 (controller) triggering a roland U-220 (piano mostly), and my synth is a korg X3 or X3R. never been much for the "latest and greatest" deal. but if i had money (i'm a musician! money? what's that?), i'd go for that nord. but when you say the action is "light", do you mean semi-weighted? that's the feel i look for. as far as "tone" goes, i'm into the david paich bright piano sound. i like his attack. and he's strictly yamaha, and i'm not a fan of their stuff. figures, no roland or korg? that's what i (still) play!! weird...thanks for the tour!!
@azurehillsmusic Жыл бұрын
The StudioLogic Numa keyboards I mentioned as light are semi-weighted, but they felt pretty spongy to me. And you are not the only dinosaur. My main board is an Alesis QS8 from circa 1996. It's been in the shop 3x, and next time it fails me might be the time I look at something new like the Nord Stage 4. Getting 26 years of life from a board is not bad - these days, it's just my midi controller, but I really like the feel of the keyboard and its form factor. I have old gear too - but always one eye open to see the latest gear. Thanks for stopping by David!

As the number of serious keyboard players dwindles, manufacturers must increase prices to recoup costs, but the high prices in turn shrink the market ever further. Combine that with a global economic downturn and currency exchange rate volatility, and then ponder how many $5,600 keyboards will Nord be selling this year? Will Nord become another Wersi?
@azurehillsmusic Жыл бұрын
Yes, that price made my head spin. Thanks for stopping by to watch!
@odmusicman Жыл бұрын
I completely agree let alone the low-cost pressure from companies like Behringer and Arturia are bringing to bear. Of course, Behringer quality doesn't match a Nord, Dexibell or Kurzweil, but they don't have to and their Mono/Poly was given the green light by several analog synth pioneer performers.

No latest news from KORG? Did they abandon us loyal Kronos users and expect us to step down to the Nautilus?! What's up with them. Also, how can Korg just stop making the number one keyboard workstation in existence? Will there be a Kronos replacement around the corner or not?
@azurehillsmusic Жыл бұрын
Yeah, not sure what the latest is from Korg. I didn't see any display at the latest NAMM show. Somebody mentioned to me that some Korg reps were present, but only for meeting purposes - not displaying latest products. Perhaps at the next NAMM show if they resume the January schedule in early 2024.
@salmonella4u Жыл бұрын
@@azurehillsmusic That's odd, that they didn't even have a display. Maybe they thought the reps might get the 3rd degree about it all. I wouldn't want to be a Korg rep this year if they were there.
@jcsmithmusic Жыл бұрын
I bought the Nautilus after being a loyal Korg user. Very disappointed. Was forced to move over to a Roland Fantom 08. Not as good as a Kronos. But better than a Nautilus.
@salmonella4u Жыл бұрын
@@jcsmithmusic I was wondering if anyone had tried the Fantom or whatever the latest Yamaha offering might be. I swear, Korg better have our backs. If there was a way to squeeze information out of Jordan Rudess, I bet he'd know. The Kronos is or at least was his main ax.
@odmusicman Жыл бұрын
Disappointed here too, went with the MODX7+ to replace my FA06. There was too much up in the air about Korg to buy something from them. Also it is important to remember the top rated and purchased keyboards from 2022 were 25/37 keys and monophonic/paraphonic. People are not composing like tradition composers anymore. I still am but it is sad to see the trend of just EDM, sequencing, the Hip, the Hop, blah blah. Do we really think the great David Foster wrote 30 hits on a something like a Behringer Neutron???

Seemed like the weakest keyboard display in all of the NAMM shows I've visited. Quite a few keyboards and manufacturers I was hoping would be there that didn't show for the latest show. Hoping that once NAMM gets back on their traditional schedule in Southern California, the situation improves. Thanks for stopping by to watch!
