I feel that this concert was the finest ever recorded of Nana. Both she and her superb band were in peak form. Unfortunately, the only quality version of it was released as a DVD by Universal and left the way it was broadcast on Greek television in 1984--edited down to just 90-minutes. Even the DVD has flaws unless one purchases the US/Canadian copy. This great song was one of several omitted from the DVD. A shame. When will Universal do the morally correct thing and reissue the entire concert??

I don't know why it's difficult to believe. Nana sang every style of music and in every language. She doesn't believe in those barriers and false constructs. Leonard Cohen introduced her to Bob Dylan and she introduced Dylan and Cohen to Europe and the Commonwealth. It is very much how she's always operated.

Chanson dramatique, mais excellente! Si Nana aurait fait cette chanson en 2011, elle aurait passer pour une folle! Alors que c'est tout le contraire! Nana a le talent de pouvoir chanter des chansons comme Le Ciel Est Noir. Bravo Nana!

Il existe un enregistrement original de la première version sur scène de cette chanson : au Théâtre des Champs-Elysées à Paris lors de la série de récitals que Nana Mouskouri y a donnés mi-décembre 1973. Le LP est paru en mars-avril 1974. Un coffret de CD est paru il y a quelques années comprenant cet enregistrement qui présente plusieurs atouts : 1) un rythme plus nuancé 2) la présence d'un quintette à cordes autour des Athéniens dirigé par un maître : Christian Chevallier 3) l'irremplaçable batteur de Nana, Spiros dont le jeu était une performance visuelle et sonore. L'enregistrement a été réalisé lors de la matinée du samedi qui a suivi la première où le public a découvert pour la première fois cette magnifique mélopée : Nana l'interprétait en fin de première partie. L'effet fut tellement sidérant que le public est resté coi plusieurs secondes avant d applaudir à tout rompre cette véritable performance.
