Bharat 🇮🇳 and the People's Republic of China (PRC) actually had quite decent diplomatic relations untill 1959. In fact, Bharat was among the first countries in the world to recognise the PRC as 'true' China. In 1959, Tenzin Gyatso, the current and 14th Dalai Lama, was granted political asylum in Bharat 🇮🇳 following the Tibetan uprising. The rest is history.
