China is feeling threatened because Taiwan is at the doorstep of mainland China. If the US and Taiwan's relationship is enforced, Taiwan could be used to set up US's military base like how the Soviet Union set up theirs in Cuba during the cold war which threatened US. Currently US, Russia and China are three of the most powerful countries in the world. Since Russia is in the middle of political complications as well as China and US, who knows whether or not WW3 is approaching soon.

"greatest" is not the word to describe China and Russia. They are not even developed countries. On paper, they appear as the 2nd and 3rd strongest militaries in the world (repeat: on paper), but a country is not measured only by its military strength. The life standard in Russia and China is nowhere near that of the USA, EU countries, Japan, South Korea, and other developed countries. How do you define greatness?

When I wrote "greatest" down, it didn't feel right but I had forgotten the word that fitted. I'm referring to them as powerful countries because they have a large influence on the entire world's position. China plays a large role in the world's production sector since it produces most of the world's exported items for daily life (clothes, tools, electronics, etc.). Russia also has a large political influence on the globe. As we have all seen, its political complication has impacted gas prices and inflation. Political complications of other countries like Iran and Syria do not have as large of a global impact economic wise as Russia or China.

One-Mainland ChinaPRC today and Taiwan ROC were formed out of the Chinese Civil War 1949-present and No-The War Never Ended No Ceasefire Peace Agreement was ever signed between Communists and Nationalist forces at the time-so by law Taiwan never surrendered and still war is ongoing today. Therefore it never ceded itself to China. Historian revisionist can argue and cry all they want with lies-but facts are facts. TWO-Taiwan Doesnt Belong To China, China Belongs To Taiwan - In A Court of Law It Holds True as The KMT Nationalist Govt at the time never surrendered to the Mao Communists and never rescinded its claim as legit ruling govt of China when it fled to Taiwan. Therefore - In A Logical Court of Law- China Belongs To Taiwan ROC (Republic of China) not the other way around if you argue in a court of law. Sorry folks facts are facts if you want to argue a logical standpoint.

I would say ego... They failed to finish off the last of the ROC during world war 2, and they successfully fled into the island. If there's anything the chinese hate its Imperial Japan, The British Empire, the eight nation alliance, as well as the corruption the ROC during the 1900s, and certain collusions the ROC had back then with the Japanese. Which all were the selling points of the communist party. And ultimately how they came to power. We American weren't exactly honest in several business endeavors with them back in the day, we tried to maximize profits while cutting labor costs, treated commonfolk like slaves, and now that baby boomer version of capitalism has been engraved onto the minds of their people. The Chinese government should really reflect on this important point: why most of the Taiwanese people do not want China to govern Taiwan and Taiwanese people? The reason is very very simple. Just simply look at how Chinese government has been treating its own people, restricting its people’s freedom. It’s a no-brainer. The Taiwanese people would be willing to flush into China to live there, to enjoy the freedom over there if the Chinese government were able to provide that kind of freedom to them. But The truth here is that the Chinese regime has been controlling restricting their own peoples freedom since they took over in 1949. They have changed very little since then, while Taiwan’s government has been changing drastically to very democratic country. Most importantly their people have been able to enjoy the freedom along with the change. So the crucial point is that it is the Chinese government, Chinese regime that has not changed at all and so that has been pushing Taiwanese people away from China.
